Halloween

Halloween is just around the corner! We will celebrate Halloween on Friday, October 29th. This year, we will hold our Halloween parade outside at 1:45 pm. Parents are welcome to view the parade from the blacktop area behind the school. Classroom celebrations will take place after the parade. Two parents per classroom will be permitted to attend the party. While wearing costumes is optional, there are a few guidelines:

  • Props representing weapons are not allowed.
  • Students should not wear costumes which promote gore, violence, or inappropriate imagery.
  • No costume face coverings or masks can be worn. Students will need to adhere to the mask guidelines that have been in place since the first day of school.

Erin's Law

Erin’s Law (Illinois Public Act 097-1147), is an Illinois law passed in February 2011 that requires public schools to provide child sexual abuse prevention education for all children in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grades. Named after sexual abuse survivor Erin Merryn, Erin’s Law will be implemented again this year in all District 303 Schools. Please note that Erin’s Law is not connected to The Keeping Youth Safe & Healthy Act (Senate Bill 818).

Please read this letter for more specifics regarding these lessons. Lessons will be taught at the end of October - November by Heidi Sheridan, our social worker.
