HBMS Warrior Parent Update
Week of April 20
FBISD Closed through May 28, 2020
Fort Bend ISD will continue online learning and remote operations for the remainder of the school year, as the community and nation respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. All facilities and schools remain closed to the public. Meanwhile, Fort Bend ISD continues to offer free meals to students under the age of 18.
For updates and more information regarding the District’s COVID-19 response, visit the website at www.fortbendisd.com/covid19.
Online Learning Continues Through May 28
- When will I be able to retrieve my personal items from my PE/Band/Orchestra locker, etc.? -- We know this is a very important topic. At some time in the future, we will be able to share plans on how students will get their belongings. The district is working on a plan for this important opportunity and when it is ready, it will be shared with our Warrior Families. Right now, the most important thing is to keep our students and staff safe.
- What about medication in the clinic and immunizations for next school year? -- We previously had a day scheduled for medication pick up. If and when another day is scheduled, it will be communicated to families by our school nurse, Nurse Carter. Immunization record requests and questions may be directed to our Nurse at latreshia.carter@fortbendisd.com
- What about our 8th Grade End of Year Event? -- Unfortunately, this event has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled. We are currently in the process of refunding money to those families that have already paid.
- What about our Yearbook? -- The yearbook has been completed and will be printed as anticipated. We will work with our vendor on a delivery date that may be later than expected. All students that paid for a yearbook, will still receive it. If we are not able to deliver them prior to June, arrangements will be made for an August delivery.
- How will I return my school issued iPad or district issued laptop? -- The district is currently working on a plan for the return of our HBMS iPad or District issued laptop. More information will be shared as it is received.
- How do I return other items that belong to the school (textbooks, library books, athletic equipment, musical instruments, Choir clothing, etc...) -- The district is working on a plan for this important and necessary opportunity. Once approved, this plan will be shared with our families.
T3 Report Cards & T4 Progress Report
Term 4 Progress Report will be available the week of April 27th.
Fine Arts Communication
Fine Arts End-of-Year Placement Requirements
Fort Bend ISD’s Fine Arts programs continue to be a source of pride for our community. Last Tuesday, the NAMM Foundation designated our District one of the “2020 Best Communities for Music Education” in the nation for the eleventh consecutive year. Through the pursuit of artistic excellence, students’ lives are transformed as they embody the attributes outlined in the District’s Profile of a Graduate in real-world applications. For many students, their Fine Arts elective is their favorite class during the day and keeps them engaged at school. In these uncertain times, people in large numbers are connecting to the Arts as a means of creating shared experiences during social distancing.
Staying Connected
During this period of online learning, we want to keep our students engaged in developing their artistic craft. While students enrolled in Middle School Fine Arts courses will not receive a grade during the T4 grading period, it is imperative students actively participate in activities outlined in the Schoology online courses for their subjects. Over the next few weeks, students will continue building the skills necessary for future success in their artistic discipline, as well as learn audition and portfolio requirements for placement next year.
Middle School Placement for 2020-21
At the middle school level, we expect all Fine Arts students to continue attending their weekly online Schoology courses, complete the uploaded activities, and attend online help sessions with their teachers. Music students enrolled in Band, Choir, Orchestra, as well as Theatre students wishing to enroll in the Theatre III/Productions class, must complete an online audition before the end of the school year to determine placement in the appropriate class for the 2020-21 school year. Contact your campus Fine Arts teacher for more information about these auditions. Previously selected 8th grade Art III students will submit their portfolios for review by High School Art teachers in order to place out of High School Art I and into Art II classes.

Student and Parent Online Support
We want students to have an engaging and successful experience with online learning, and the following tools are provided to assist students in the online learning environment. These support tools consist of technical, program and application-specific videos, guides, training, chats and more to assist parents as students need support at home with engaging in their virtual classroom.
Additionally, FBISD has set up an Online Learning Support Call Center, providing live support for questions and answers for parents and students. 281-634-0826. Available 8 a.m. - 8 p.m.
