What is it?
"Advanced Opportunities allow students to individualize their high school learning plan to get a jump start on their future. These options include dual credit, workforce training, certification exams, Advanced Placement, and International Baccalaureate programs."
For every student?
YES! The state provides students from grades 7-12 $4125 dollars to be able to obtain an Associate Degree, earn college credits, workforce training, certification exams, Advanced Placement all while in high school.
Why?
This gives students better opportunities for growth and ideas of what they want to do in life after high school.
Sophomore Start
This is Boise State's option designed to provide high school students taking concurrent enrollment courses the opportunity to achieve a significant college milestone prior to high school graduation–completing their college freshman year by earning 30 college credits before graduating.
Associate Degree
The Concurrent Enrollment Associate Degree option allows students to complete an associate degree by the time they graduate from high school-a significant milestone in their academic career. An associate degree is an undergraduate academic degree awarded by colleges and universities upon completion of approximately 60 credits. Achieving this milestone requires an investment of a student’s time and commitment.
Why?
Both options are a great way for students. Sophomore Start is great for students who are set on attending Boise State University but can't manage the full 60 credits needed for the Associate Degree Program.
