Gospel Reading
John 14:15-21
Jesus promises his disciples that he will send them another advocate, the Spirit of truth.
Family Connection
The mystery of the Trinity can be difficult for us to grasp. Today’s Gospel invites us to consider how the three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit— work together so that God’s salvation is made known to us. Jesus’ mission is continued through the activity of the Holy Spirit in the lives of his disciples. We have received this same Spirit through our Baptisms. The Spirit, living and working within us, reveals the mystery of God’s love for us. Just as the first disciples were not left orphaned, we are not orphaned; we remain in God’s embrace through the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Gather your family and invite each family member to say what he or she knows about the Holy Spirit. Read aloud today’s Gospel, John 14:15-21. What does Jesus say the Holy Spirit will do for the disciples? Through the gift of the Holy Spirit, we come to share in the love of God made known to us in Jesus. Pray together, thanking God for this gift of the Holy Spirit by praying the Prayer to the Holy Spirit.

Classroom Placement for September
Our process at Madonna that we use to determine student placement is quite involved:
1. The current grade teachers meet together with the school counselor/admin team and openly discuss learning needs, friendships, who needs to stay together, who should not be together in the same class, balance of boys and girls, and numerous other factors,
2. Tentative class lists are made, and NO Teacher is assigned to one group or the other,
3. Final decision of student placement is made by the Admin Team, then
4. Teachers are assigned to a group of children.
5. Last day of school, students will be given a welcome letter from their upcoming teacher and a bit of information about what to look forward to in the upcoming year.
Sometimes parents would like to chose which teacher their child will have. As there are so many factors that are used to figure out who goes where, we do not accept parent requests for teachers as this creates a domino effect. If one child is moved, then that requires us to move other children in and out of the class to maintain the balance. This becomes a nightmare.
In the past, as Principal I have made one or two moves only based on confidential discussions in person with parents. If you would like to sit down with me and discuss your child's placement for next year, please set up an appointment with me. These meetings do not guarantee your child's placement with a particular teacher.
Thank you for your understanding.
Please feel free to email or call me if you have any questions. Thanks.

REAL Foundation Fund Raiser (Religious Education Activities for Life)
Our Catholic schools are committed to helping students grow in their Christian faith through religious education and spiritual experiences... but they are limited in what they can do by restrictions on public education funding.
The EICS REAL foundation helps to fill this gap... by hosting guest speakers and events to to our students, supporting teacher and student faith formation, and retreats, as well as providing scholarships to our high school youth. You may have seen the REAL foundation members at our school parish events providing hospitality to families....
The annual REAL Foundation Golf Tournament is coming up on Wednesday, May 24th 2017 at the Broadmoor Golf Course in Sherwood Park.
- This is the only fundraiser for REAL Foundation. Each year and we count on the generous support of both sponsors and golfers.
