From The Principal's Desk
Greetings North Wales Families,
I am so excited for this week. We have our PBIS Kick-Off this Friday. Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based three tiered framework to improve and integrate all of the data, systems, and practices affecting student outcomes every day. PBIS creates schools where all students succeed. PBIS often gives students three general rules: Be safe, be respectful, and be responsible. In every area of the school, students are taught more specific rules and expectations for being safe, being respectful and being responsible: for example, in the classroom, in the cafeteria, in the hallways, on the bus, recess area, arrival/dismissal for walkers and car riders.
Friday we are asking all students and staff to wear North Wales gear or colors ( Blue and white) to help with our PBIS Kick-Off Day!
Just a reminder please check out the lost and found slideshow. We have quite a few unclaimed jackets and sweatshirts in there.
I am looking forward to another great week!
Warmly,
Ms. Dana Kenney
Principal

Sixth Graders –
Do YOU want to design thecover for your 6th gradeyearbook?
Please submit your entry by Jan. 31, 2023.
We encourage all sixth graders interested in designing a cover for your yearbook to submit a design.
You and your classmates will vote for the top two designs. These designs will be used on the front and back cover of the yearbook. We will try to include the other submissions inside the yearbook.
● Create your cover with lots of imagination and color!
● Use a normal sheet of paper (8.5 x 11), no lines please.
● Must be vertical!
● Leave one-quarter inch margin on all sides for scanning.
● Heavier paper is best but not necessary.
● Try to incorporate a theme into your design.
● Consider incorporating "Class of 2023" however it's not required. ● Print your name on the back to allow for fair voting.
● Have fun!
Design a cover that shows what North Wales Elementary means to you and your classmates!

February 2nd-5th is the Lantern Festival. The Lantern Festival (元宵节 or Yuánxiāojié in pinyin) is a Chinese holiday that traditionally marks the end of the Chinese New Year (Spring Festival) celebrations.
Chinese people celebrate this holiday by enjoying colored lantern displays and eating sweet rice balls called tangyuan.
Black History Month- February
Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history. Also known as African American History Month, the event grew out of “Negro History Week,” the brainchild of noted historian Carter G. Woodson and other prominent African Americans. Since 1976, every U.S. president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month. Other countries around the world, including Canada and the United Kingdom, also devote a month to celebrating Black history.
