Sherburn Hungate Weekly News - Autumn Term 1 - Issue 6

A word from Mr Broom.

We continue to gather pace in school this week. We held our first competitive football match on Monday against Barkston Ash and we became the STAR Alliance bean bag rounders champions yesterday.

In school, our teachers have been working on a new planning format as well as getting to grips with the new exciting Essentials curriculum we have introduced. Miss Mackay has worked with year group pairs to develop some wonderful real learning opportunities for next half term. I'm really excited for our children and what they are about to explore and learn.

Thank you also to everyone who sent in photographs of their children doing the things they love. They have made a wonderful display in our school entrance which looks fab!

I also met with our Junior Leadership Team on Tuesday and they suggested that we give some of the children in Year 6 the opportunity to lead our celebration assembly on a Friday morning. This will give the children the chance to speak in public; a skill that they will need in later life.

Finally, I'd like to thank Sherburn Camera Club who came in on Monday afternoon to take some high quality photographs for our school website. I'm looking forward to seeing how this materialises over the next couple of weeks.

Here's a sneak peak of our new website video.

ParentView Survey

You may or may not be aware that the government use a website called ParentView to gather the opinions of parents/carers when inspecting schools. Please help us by completing the online survey. It takes about five minutes to do and will help us to further improve as well as celebrate the things we are doing well.
