Other Information From...
Harvest For the Hungry: WE NEED YOUR HELP!
- The Harvest for the Hungry food drive will be continuing until November 15th.
- Please bring in non-perishable food items, or monetary donations to donate.
- Donations can be placed in the bins found in the social studies classrooms.
- All proceeds will be donated to the Southern Maryland Food Bank.
- Many families rely on the items that we donate. Anything you can do to help out is greatly appreciated!!
College and Career Center:
- A Navy recruiter will be here on October 31st outside of the cafeteria.
- Students that have signed up for the SAT Prep class, the classes will start on Friday November 1st in the Career Center during A/B lunch.
From the Counselor's Office:
- This year all three high schools in St. Mary's County are promoting Mental Health Awareness during the week of Dec 4-8.
- This week is designated to provide information, supports, and resources to students and families regarding overall wellness.
- We are asking students for their help to spread awareness by participating in a poster contest.
- Additional details will be available on the LHS web page and entry forms can be obtained from the teachers or through the School Counseling Office.

- Counselors recently met with our 12th grade students to review the important topics of graduation requirements and the college application process.
- Students were given a letter which discussed requirements needed in order to graduate. For example, Service Learning Hours, a Career Cruising Portfolio, and required courses where all included.
- Please take a moment to review the letter with your student and contact their school counselor with any questions.
- Counselors send out periodic announcements regarding events and upcoming deadlines through the Remind App. To sign up for this, text @lhssrs2018 to 81010.
Talent Show Update:
- The Class of 2019, in combination with the Rose Players, are seeking students to serve as Masters of Ceremonies for the 2017 Talent Show.
