THIS WEEK AT SPES

ADVENT
The Advent season offers many opportunities for building spiritual memories in our children. There are traditions that they experience in school, the Advent Wreath, the Jesse Tree, and the Advent box that travels from class to class with prayers for each other. The Empowered candle is now near the family Advent wreath, but the focus is on the coming of light into the world through the coming of Jesus. It is a time for us to remember all our spiritual ancestors who waited in hope for the Savior. Waiting is hard in our instantaneous world. But there are occasions in our families that teach us the virtue of patience. Our families wait for the arrival of a new child, family coming for the holidays, these are joyful anticipations. They give us the sense of those who so many years ago watched the sky, saw the star, and hoped. May your family experience the joyful anticipation of this holy season.
