IB EXCELLENCE AND EQUITY INITIATIVE
Chandler High School has been selected to participate in the IB’s Excellence and Equity Initiative (E2). Over the next two years, secondary school leaders and faculty will work to remove barriers to IB Diploma Program or IB Career-Related Program participation for under-represented students, create pathways to the DP or CP, and incorporate strategies that are designed to positively impact the success of under-represented students enrolled in the programs. The goal is to empower more students to graduate with the skills and tools needed for post-secondary education and lifelong learning. This E2 Initiative includes an action-planning process embedded within online professional development to improve school practices, policies and culture to ensure that all students are provided with an equal opportunity for advanced education. CHS will have access to case studies and webinars that highlight best practices for access and success from around the USA.
CHS is one of 20 Diploma Program schools in Arizona, and the only one with both the Diploma and Career-Related Program options. Through targeted efforts we have seen an almost 50% increase in IB program participation over the last five years.
IB REGISTRATION FAIR
SWIM SERVICE
The CHS Swim Team has collected goods that will be distributed by members of our team to the various homeless individuals around Chandler. Edda Anderson and Seth Chun, two of the team’s captains, spearheaded the project and asked for donations of items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, sunscreen, granola bars, water, socks, soap, deodorant, chap stick, lotion, and of course our local McDonald’s donated Extra Value Meals for each package. The items were then sorted into 100 individual bags that will be kept in the cars of our swimmers and given to the individuals in need as they come across them throughout Chandler.
