Salk Seahawk Scoop
Week of 11/27/22
A Note From the Principal
Salk Elementary Families:
It is an honor to introduce myself as the new principal of Salk Elementary School. I am excited and eager to bring my skills as an educational leader to Salk and work with you to ensure your child’s success.
I come to Salk Elementary having previously taught in L’Anse Creuse Public Schools for 5 years. I then moved to Richmond Community schools where I served in various administrative roles for the past 9 years. Most recently I was the Acting Principal at Richmond Middle School, a 4th thru 8th grade building. During the 2014-15 school year I spent time as the Elementary Principal, and I am very excited to return to the elementary setting. Outside, of education, I spend time with my wife Lisa and our two children Madelyn and John. I also have a house full of animals with three cats and two dogs. Like most parents, we spend much of our personal time taking our kids to various activities.
As your principal, it is important to me that everyone who steps through our doors is excited to be here! This attitude enables us to meet the challenges of academic excellence in a positive, fun, and nurturing environment. I welcome your conversation and input throughout the year. I had the pleasure of meeting some of you at the last PTO meeting and the wonderful trivia night the PTO hosted. I look forward to meeting everyone in the drop-off/pick-up lines or anytime you stop in the office. Please feel free to call or email me to discuss any concerns you might have throughout the school year. My door is always open and I am excited to become a member of the Salk Family.
Go Seahawks,
Anthony Birkmeier
Virtual Learning Available for Second Semester

If you do not wish to switch your child’s learning mode, no action is necessary.

Please carefully consider this semester-long commitment before submitting this application, as requests to change throughout the second semester will not be granted.

Ready or Not - Cold Weather is Here!
We're starting to see MANY students bundled up each day, which is great! Please be sure to send your child to school dressed for the weather each day. Students will start needing warm coats, gloves, hats, scarves, and/or boots daily throughout the winter.
Please take time to label each and every item- because our lost and found gets bombarded with lost winter accessories throughout the season.
Please note that, per Board Policy, we will be having outdoor morning lineup and heading outdoors for our 20 minute recess(es) if the windchill is 10 degrees or warmer.
Time outdoors is time well spent for kids, in all seasons.
