WBMS Friday Notes

Reflections from Ms. Williams
WBMS Parents and Guardians –
We began our shortened week with our first Connect sessions of the year for our 7th and 8th graders. Connect is a part of Compass where students select interests and then are placed with a staff member and other students who share the interest so they can “connect.” Connect classes vary from chess to painting to outdoor running; overall, they focus on building relationships and are just – plain - fun. This year all 7th and 8th graders will experience three different courses for four session each. Be sure to ask your student which Connect class he or she is currently enrolled.
We also had fun celebrating the end of the first nine weeks with popcorn (Thank you parents for popping it!), music, and special coupons for additional Webb Way ticket winners. Additionally, students began meeting with their Compass advisors to share and reflect successes and areas for growth, so we are all ready for successful next nine weeks of the semester. On Thursday, we applauded our Webster Award recipients who have illustrated excellence in the areas of Respect, Citizenship, Responsibility, Perseverance, Integrity, and Positivity, and after school our 7th graders danced the afternoon away in the gym at the 7th grade dance. Lastly, our BETA Club brought Be the Voice (BtV) to WBMS this week; BtV is a student-led upstander (rather than bystander) program https://be-the-voice.org/ that teaches students how to behave when they witness improper behavior.
Looking ahead:
- Next Week is WBMS Wellness Week. Thank you to our PTA and Partners - LRJ and Summit Counseling – for making this week meaningful for our community. See the flyer below for details. Please help your child remember that Monday is wear your favorite positive-message shirt to school day.
- Our 8th graders will take IOWAs on Monday – Thursday, so please make sure they go to bed early, eat a good breakfast, and charge their Surfaces, so they are set to do their best.
As always, enjoy your weekend together as a family!
