Message from the Principal - August 24, 2016

Happy Wednesday!

I hope that all of you are enjoying this beautiful weather and spending some quality family time together. There are less than two weeks to go until we start a brand new school year. I am excited to report that every class has new students and that we have 31 new families joining our faith community. Please make sure to introduce yourselves at the Meet the Teachers event on Sept. 2nd (8 am - noon) and the Back to School BBQ on the 3rd (1 - 3 pm). It is going to be another fantastic year for Holy Rosary/Juan Diego, as we continue to build a bright future!

Calling All Volunteers!

Are you looking to get a jump start on your volunteer hours before school starts? Here are some volunteer opportunities:


  • If you are able to help out with filing and creating new family communication envelopes in the office, please contact Berenice at office@hrrsjda.org.
  • We are looking for help to take down the remaining Gala/graduation decorations in the auditorium. For more information, contact Sarah McKinney at smckinney@hrrsjda.org or Berenice Williams at office@hrrsjda.org.
  • If you’d like to get an early start with your volunteer hours, contact Colleen Thomson, casmt@comcast.net, to volunteer for the BBQ on Sept. 3rd. We’ll need help setting up, cleaning up, and someone to do the grilling.
  • We are in need of an Asst. Coach for Cross Country, as well as parents to help out with supervision at practice. If you are interested, please contact Ralph Thomson (CYO Athletic Director) at cyo@hrrsjda.org.

Cross Country

Students in Pre-K through 8th Grade can participate in CYO Cross Country. Practices will be held on Mondays and Fridays from 3 - 4 pm. The Cross Country meet days are: Sept 25, Oct 2 and Oct 9. Thank you to Coach Pickles for heading this up!

Uniform Sale!

If your child grew over the summer and his/her uniform doesn't fit, uniform donations will be accepted at the bbq or they can be dropped off (laundered) at the office beforehand. Gently used uniforms will be sold during the bbq.

Meet the Teachers/Supply Drop-Off

Friday, Sep. 2nd, 8am-12pm

This is a wonderful time to stop by the school (anytime between 8 am and noon) to meet the teachers for the first time or visit with them after a long summer. It is also meant to be a time for students to drop off supplies so that they don't need to bring them in on the first day of school. Finally, it tends to make that first morning go much more smoothly and the kids less anxious! Stop by anytime between 8 am and noon and visit with us. We love to see those smiling faces!

Who’s invited: Holy Rosary students and their family

What to bring: Chairs, blankets and food to share depending on your last name

Where: Holy Rosary Outside in the Front Parking Lot (In the Auditorium if it’s raining)

When: September 3rd, 1-3 pm

Why: To get to know each other better and to have fun!


Last Name/Item to Bring

A through D: Side dishes (example: macaroni and cheese, pasta salad, wings, veggie tray, etc.)

E through J: Fruit/Chips/Snacks

K through O: Drinks (bring cups if they are not individual)

P through Z: Desserts
