Prayer for Campers
Year 6 Students
On Monday, our Year 6 students headed off to camp at Camp Quaranup. The camp provides an opportunity for students to challenge themselves, strengthen existing friendships and build and develop new ones. They will also be encouraged to enhance skills in leadership and teamwork by learning with others. Albany is rich in history for both our state and nation. The skills they learn and practise at camp will not only help them to be better leaders in their final year at Notre Dame but will teach them the skills necessary for success in life. We wish our Year 6s well and look forward to seeing and hearing what they learned.
One of the ways we can make Lent meaningful is to make sacrifices to give to others in need. Notre Dame families are encouraged to donate to Project Compassion during Lent by making a contribution to the collection boxes sent home, located in classrooms and offices around the school. Children are encouraged to sacrifice a weekly treat and instead donate the money to Project Compassion. This helps students to make Lent meaningful and develops compassion and empathy for others. Please be generous in any way that you can and support Project Compassion to help those in need.
As a matter of safety, parents are again urged to be extra courteous when picking up and dropping off their children. It is essential that parents park in an allotted space, not blocking driveways, the road or double parking. Ignoring the road rules is a very dangerous practice and one that is completely unnecessary. There are other, much safer options at Notre Dame, such as the drive through pick up in the afternoon and the parish car park drop off in the morning.
STUDENT LEADERSHIP 2018
Congratulations to the following children who have been elected by their peers, the Year 4s, 5s and staff as leaders in our school for this year. We look forward to seeing great leadership from them and all of the Year Sixes throughout the year.

Notre Dame Parish Council
The Year 4’s have had a busy and exciting start to the year. Students are currently taking part in the Thinkers ‘N’ Tinkers Makerspace program. Students collaboratively use tools and fabrication equipment that allow individuals to create and remake their “world”. The Makerspace program has a strong hands-on approach and the Year 4’s have shown just how creative they are!
In maths, we are encouraging all children to become responsible for learning their multiplication tables and have introduced Karate Multiplication. Children will earn coloured belts as they progress through their tables and we ask parents to help assist and motivate children in this area. There are a number of Apps, games and even songs that children can access to make this a more enjoyable and engaging process. Students have also been working through the first parts of the Stepping Stones program, which has provided the students with more hands on opportunities and collaboration in their math lessons so far.

Notes will be going home next Monday outlining the Swimming Carnival. Swimming trials in week 2 will help with 50m event divisions. No hard copies of the event program will be sent home but there will be access through class collaboration websites like Google Classrooms for parents to access the events their child is in. If you do not think your child is capable of swimming a certain event please email me at least a week prior to the carnival so I have time to amend the program. Each child will participate in at least 2 races, including novelty events.

PARENTS' AND FRIENDS' NEWS
You Can Help
Share the vision of Notre Dame Catholic Primary School’s Parents’ and Friends’ Association by taking a role as Chair or Vice Chair and being a part of the Executive of this volunteer organisation of parents at your child’s school. You will be actively supported by an enthusiastic and experienced Finance Officer and Administration Officer, as well as an existing group of fantastically engaged parents organising events to promote social, fundraising and parent educational activities.
You will simply act as liaison between the Leadership of the school and the only formal parent body at Notre Dame Catholic Primary School. The P&F Association meets twice per school term and the Chair shall chair all general and special meetings of the Association.
If you think this might interest you, then please contact either Julie-Anne Beasley (0419871864) or Mr Darryl Winsor (Principal) to discuss.
