Condit Elementary Weekly Bulletin
9/10/18
Message from Dr. Malally
We had such a fast and great week at Condit last week! Our students are working hard to be Condit ROCKStars! Recognizing our students for their AWESOME behaviors is definitely our focus. Our students are doing an AMAZING job settling in to their new grade levels, and learning their new routines.
Last Friday, September 7th was our first Spirit Day. Room 9, room 10, and room 14 has a tie for our primary grades with school spirit, so they will share one of the Spirit Condors for this month. Room 3 was the winner for upper grade. Our next Spirit Day will be on Friday, October 5th.
We also held our 100 Mile Club Kick-off assemblies last Friday, and are always so fortunate to have the Founder of the 100 Mile Club, Kara Lubin, kick off our year. Last year, we were really close to reaching our goal of 50,000 miles as a Condit community, but we didn't quite make it. We encourage all of our Condit community to come out and earn miles. We will begin our first 100 Mile Club event this Friday with out students. K-3 will walk/run from 1:00 - 1:45 PM, and 4-6 will walk/run from 2:00 - 2:45 PM. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS TO HELP US! We need volunteers to pass out sticks, punch cards, and someone to set up our music around 12:45 PM each Friday. If you can help out with passing sticks and punching cars, there is a sign-up sheet in the front office. If you are able to set up our music system, please email me at cmalally@cusd.claremont.edu.
Thank you so much to all of you for being so flexible with our new visitor management system. Remember that if you plan on being a regular/weekly consistent volunteer, you will need to attend a mandatory volunteer training at 9:15 AM on Tuesday, September 11th. Please begin by checking into our front office with your driver's license, and then join us in the MPR. The training will be about 30 minutes.
Lastly, our first PFA meeting of the school year is this evening in our MPR at 6:30 PM. We will be reviewing the PFA budget, our school budget, as well as our CAASPP assessment results from the 2017-2018 school year. We hope to see you there!
I hope everyone has a wonderful week!
PFA NEWS
The first PFA meeting of the school year is tonight at 6:30 PM in the MPR. Please come by and join us as we discuss the role of PFA at Condit and what we have planned for the 2018-2019 school year. All are welcome! Hope to see you there tonight.
The Condit Caller Student Directory
The Condit PFA will publish its annual school directory, The Condit Caller, again this fall. Condit families are encouraged to advertise your businesses to our school community. Advertising in the Condit Caller is a great way to let other Condit families know about your local business or professional service you provide. All families who join PFA receive a copy of the Condit Caller. Ad revenues support our PFA which funds critical educational and enrichment programs, playground equipment, our school library, technology upgrades and more. Ads start at $50, are available in black/white or color, and enjoy long “shelf life” because parents refer to the invaluable Caller throughout the school year and beyond. The deadline to submit payment, ad copy (jpg preferred), and sign up form is Friday, September 21st. For more information, please contact Amanda Thompson at 909-910-9850 or Amanda@acreativestring.com.
Also, don’t forget to send back your Condit PFA membership envelope and Condit Caller Directory Information Sheet with your Back to School Packet!!
Be sure to check out CUSD's latest Parent Engagement Calendar which include Mental Health, District Committees, College Awareness Workshops, and Parenting Workshops. These are great opportunities to become more informed!
The 100 Mile Club in 2018-2019
We LOVE to have our family members join the 100 Mile Club, and want to include your miles in our school-wide goals. For any person that is not an enrolled student at Condit, we will continue to pass out "Guest" sticks. Students will continue to collect our usual sticks stamped with Condit on them, but the "Guest" sticks will be blue. If you are a family member that plans on joining the 100 Mile Club, please make sure that you are collecting the blue sticks for each lap that you do. Outside events will be credited based on the registration forms that indicate participants name.
