Communicating Student Learning
Coldstream Elementary October 2020
Parent-Student -Teacher Conferences
These conferences are part of the year plan for Communicating Student Learning. They are created to begin the communication with parents and to help provide ownership and focus for students. Goals will be revisited through the year and and in April, another conference will be held to reflect on the growth for the year and develop 'what is next'.
To help prepare for these conferences, many classes have been doing self reflection about the areas they are successful in and which areas of learning might be possible goal areas for growth. Parents are also receiving some information to help them prepare for the conferences. Time scheduled for the conferences is 15 minutes per student. More information about reporting for the year is included in this newsletter.
Conferences this year will be held via Microsoft Teams virtual meetings. Parents and students will be invited by their teacher to attend their virtual conference. More information about how to use Teams is linked in a document below.
To accommodate time needed for conferencing, there are two early dismissal days. Thursday, October 29th and Friday October 30th classes will be dismissed at 11:30 and busses will run 3 hours early . Online scheduling is available for these dates. Info on how to sign up is attached in the link below. Scheduling links will go live on October 15th. In addition, many teachers have created times over the next weeks to meet with students and their families. These times and schedules are being handled individually by classroom teachers. We look forward to the time for meeting together to discuss every child's strengths and goal areas.
