2023-2024 School Year
In previous years, North Dover had numerous requests from parents for specific classroom placements for their child. Due to the increase in the amount of requests, it is near impossible to create classes that are equal in numbers. While we always will respect a parent’s input with regard to their child’s learning style, as well as other pertinent information, we will be unable to honor requests for a specific placement for their child/children. Our goal at North Dover is to create balanced classes in which all students will thrive and receive the best education possible. We thank you in advance for your cooperation and support.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Ms. Colleen McGrath, Principal
Mrs. Dina O'Donnell, Supervisor of Instruction

Hi, this is Sloane from Ms. Doyle’s class. I love second grade because I have the best second grade teacher. I also made lots of new friends and learned a lot! Just today, Tuesday, our butterflies emerged from their chrysalis ! We fed them apples, oranges, and bananas. We also put roses in their habitat too. If I wasn’t in Ms. Doyle’s class I wouldn’t have met Carly. We learned lots of math, reading and science. My favorite part was meeting my teacher. I have the best second grade class !
Hello! This is Juliana F., Josh D., and Jannah C. Everyone has had so much fun in Exploration Hour, and we hope that it stays that way for the rest of the class. We have been enjoying doing our slideshows and having the opportunity to choose whatever topic that we want. We have been working very hard on doing our best and trying to exceed Ms. Gawalis’ expectations. For the past few months we have been working on our slideshows on our special topics. Our projects have been going well so far, and it’s a blast. Working on this project taught us how to work on a timely basis. Since we have had so much fun in this year’s exploration hour, we hope to come back next year.
I am in 4th grade, Mrs.Harrington’s class. Today we went to an assembly, it was called “The Pillowcase Project.” They taught us very good stuff to help us in a fire. Then after that we got pillowcases to color. That was very informative and I learned much more about what to do in fires. In our classroom we are reading this book that is called “George Washington Socks”, it is a very good book. In math we are classifying polygons. For social studies we learned about the midwest and made one- pagers. I have learned so much this year!
Doyle, no habría conocido a Carly. Aprendimos muchas matemáticas, lectura y ciencias. Mi parte favorita fue conocer a mi maestro. ¡Tengo la mejor clase de segundo grado! ¡Hola! Harrington. ¡He aprendido tanto este año!
In the Classrooms...
From Mr. Mackey: As we wind down our instrumental music program for the year, I want to thank our students and their supportive families for a great concert experience on Monday, May 22. All of the performers were amazing and it was a fun afternoon and evening. Thank you to our departing fifth grade students, and may music always be a part of your lives. To our third grade students, the application form for beginning band and orchestra will soon be posted. And to our fifth grade classes, I was proud to be your host for the Academic Bowl on May 31. I am impressed by what you have accomplished and maybe I’ll be fortunate enough to see you on the real Jeopardy! show someday.
Mrs. Gottlieb’s class has grown so much this year. They are reading, writing stories, and doing word problems all by themselves. Mrs. Gottlieb is so proud of all of her shining stars. She encourages them to read over the summer and to keep a daily journal.
Ms.Lima’s class cannot believe how fast this year went! The students have grown immensely and I could not be prouder. Their hard work and perseverance shines through in all they do as well as their kindness. They are ready to take on second grade!
The third grade classes are wrapping up our Native American unit in CKLA, which they enjoyed. We will be moving on to book clubs. All the children are liking our end of year activities like solving multi-step word problems in groups and preparing for our end of year picnic. Mrs. Riccoboni, Mrs. Hempen, and Mrs. Sclafani are extremely proud of all the students this year. They all have grown academically, as well as socially. We will miss them immensely next year!
What a great year Ms. Doyle’s class had! I am SO proud of their accomplishments and progress! They have worked very hard this year and are ready for third grade! We are starting our unit in geometry and are having fun making shapes. Our read aloud novel is “There’s a Boy in the Girls’ Bathroom by Louis Sachar and the students are loving it! Please continue to read with your children over the summer. Lastly, our butterflies just emerged from their chrysalis this morning and the kids are very excited! I will miss my second graders and seeing all of my former students in the halls as I am retiring from North Dover Elementary after 27 years. I have lots of wonderful memories and will miss everyone! I was truly blessed! Have a great summer!
From the desk of Ms. Gawalis - I am so proud of my advanced math students and the incredible growth, perseverance, and dedication that they demonstrated this year. They successfully tackled all of the 5th grade math standards and were able to master quite a few 6th grade standards as well. They embraced enrichment work, let their creativity shine on some fun projects along the way, and made math enjoyable on a daily basis. I was honored to teach them and hope that they continue to foster a love of math. Have a great summer everybody!
Thank you to all the families that supported our Title One Family events. The students always had a fun time and it was great spending time together reading and enjoying activities. We hope you read some wonderful books over the summer!
Mrs. McGreevey & Mrs. Daily
Ms. Lewandowski’s second graders have been hard at work. We have been learning two patriotic songs with the help of Ms. K to sing for Flag Day on June 14th. We are so excited to be having our end of the year picnic on Friday and look forward to having some delicious treats and playing some fun games outside. We have been working hard on partitioning rectangles into smaller squares in math and are learning all about the human body in reading. I am so proud of the hard work my class has done this year and am so excited to see how much they have grown since the beginning of the year. I am excited to create some fun memories in the last few weeks of school.
We have had a great year in our ESL classes. I am so proud of how hard all of our Multilingual Learners have worked and how much they have grown. We will be finishing up this year with a “Reflection Project” where students will think about all of their accomplishments from this year and what they hope to improve on next year. I hope everyone enjoys these last few weeks of school. Have an amazing summer!
~ Mrs. Black
Mrs. Petriella’s kindergarten class has worked so hard this year! They have become excellent readers and writers, and I am just so proud of them! Read lots of books this summer, play outside, and you’ll learn something new every day! Have a wonderful summer!!!
Ms. Sargrad’s class has worked so hard this year! Everyone has improved so much and I couldn’t be more proud of each and every student. Each student has gone from learning their alphabet to reading sight words, making sentences and everything in between. In math we’ve gone from learning colors and shapes to doing addition. This year flew by but we have enough memories to last a lifetime. I can’t wait to see everyone again in September! Have an amazing summer! You all deserve it! We truly are the “Best Team Ever!”
Students in Mr. Cheek’s art class are wrapping up the school year in a variety of ways. Some students are working on a skill of their choice. For example, many 4th and 5th grade students are choosing to practice different methods of blending and applying paint. Other classes are focused on presenting work. Some classes are collaborating on larger works of art. Most classes are focused on creating “textured monsters”, a lesson based on “Where the Wild Things Are.” This is a fun way to practice creating the illusion of texture. If you’d like to try it, search “textured monsters inspired by Maurice Sednak” to see examples. Examples of “textured monsters” created by NDE students will be shared in classroom streams as they are completed.
