Our Book Boxes are full with awesome chapter books from both the W-SR Middle School Library and from the Waverly Public Library! One of the things we have been working on is building reading stamina. Reading is the number one thing to do to continue to grow. Students should be reading at least 20-30 minutes every day after school. Students are recording the titles of their books and tracking the number of pages on a Reading Log at both school and home. You can find this in Notability on the iPad. Ask your child about "fake" and "real" reading.
Get Your Learn On!
We are beginning to study map skills and continents. Friday of next week, Heather Gamm will be visiting. She is the Bremer-Butler County Conservationalist who will be teaching about compasses and how to use them. The following week, she will be back to teach all about GPS systems. Students can study for future quizzes by practicing learning continents using the Continents App and learning terms using Quizlet. Quzlet allows students to learn the spellings and definitions of terms using word cards, playing games like "Scatter," and taking as many practice tests as they want. Quizlet is found on Symbaloo, which stores numerous sites we use that is periodically updated, according to what we are studying at the time.
