As a Reminder!
Veterans Day Reverse Parade
While this year looks very different and we are unable to invite families to school for a Veteran's Day breakfast, the staff and students at Doby's Bridge Elementary School want to celebrate and honor our veterans with a reverse parade!
Veteran family members will be able to drive along the car-rider line loop at Doby’s Bridge while their DBES student waves a flag and/or holds a poster honoring their veteran. Students will be spaced 6 feet apart and wear their masks to ensure the health and safety of all participants. Students with siblings will be able to stand together as a family unit. Each grade level will also be creating banners to be visible along the fence as families enter the parade, so that all students have the opportunity to contribute to the celebration and celebrate those family members who are unable to attend. Staff members will be taking photos and recording the event to share with DBES families. We will share some of these moments on social media.
In order for students to participate in the parade- they must have a veteran who will be attending the parade. Please fill out the below Google Form if your child(ren) has a veteran family member who would be able to participate in this reverse parade on Wednesday, November 11th. This opportunity is open to our FMVA students as well. We will share additional details with all participants as the event gets closer.
This form is due by Friday, October 23: https://forms.gle/EfpYbTX3cBfp9gQK9 (link should be working)
Nurses Corner- Mrs. Callahan
I am so proud of how I see our students improving their comfort with personal protection . Mask wearing has been very well-done, most are aware of keeping out of other’s personal spaces, and hand washing skills are improving. Children are demonstrating far more diligent and thorough hand washing skills.
Please DO NOT HESITATE to get your family’s flu shots TODAY!
Now is the time to be consistent with DAILY allergy and asthma maintenance medications to prevent unnecessary respiratory symptoms that may overlap with Covid symptoms. We want to be consistently proactive in keeping our children as well as they can be.
Parents- if your child is experiencing COVID like symptoms or waiting on results of a COVID test, please contact the school and let them know that is why they are absent. This helps the district with contact tracing and management of COVID protocols.
Parent Portal use for Report Cards
Please set up your Parent Portal account if you have not done so. Report cards will be electronic and viewable through this system on Tuesday, November 17. Mrs. England has emailed and sent home letters (printed on red paper) in Wednesday folders if you are one of our last families that need to set up this account. If you already have an account but have forgotten your password, there is a link for this on the login screen. If you are having issues setting up your account, please email EnglandM@fortmillschools.org with the error that you are encountering.
SPIRIT DAY
FMVA Booster Update
Virtual Dance Fit
Our FMVA classes are having a blast preparing for our Virtual Dance Fit next Friday, October 23! Students have been learning how to choose to live with character every day through Booster’s brand new character theme, Sports City Now. Make sure to ask your students what they've learned each day, and together you can watch the story unfold on funrun.com!
If you’re looking for the easiest way to ask for a pledge, just upload a photo of your student to funrun.com to create a personalized Student Star Video. This fun, hilarious video starring your child can be shared by email or social media to connect with sponsors and ask for a pledge.
