PANTHER PROGRESS
May 2023 Issue 9
PRINCIPAL'S CORNER
With the saying of “April showers bring May flowers,” our Lincoln staff has been “making it rain” with efforts to get each of our 614 students on grade level, while still enjoying school here at Lincoln! As we approach our last full month of school this May, we can ALL live by the acronym of “M.A.Y.”:
M – Make this month count.
A – Accomplish your goals.
Y – You can do this.
Please continue to support your child with “making this month count” by supporting their attendance and reading and practicing math facts with your child daily. Ask your child what goals they have for themselves as a learner. Continue to encourage your child to progress monitor so that they can meet their goals.
Remember that “Success is best when it’s shared,” so your ongoing Panther Partnership is one of the strongest factors of student achievement when home and school work together.
The month of May will bring MANY school/commUNITY events, so it will be important for you to make note and we look forward to seeing you!
Educate and elevate….and thanks for your teamwork.
Much Lincoln Love!
Eric Rhodes - Principal
Mary Beth Smith - Assistant Principal

May is Children's Mental Health awareness month. We have created a bunch of new videos (some just for primary), found calming activities, and created a final buddy project.
- Please click HERE for the short introduction video we made for all staff.
- Our video library/lessons for the month will focus on ways to SOOTHE and STRENGTHEN our brain. You can find the entire library at this LINK
- There is one final school wide project to end our 100th year with excellence. You can read about it in the library and also watch this short video to explain it.
Join the Support Squad as they talk about the importance of Mental Health
- What is mental health? (2 minute animated video for children)
- Self-Care for families Tip Sheet
- Affirmation cards to help students/families focus on positive thinking.
- Coping Skills Cards to print out
We hope you and your students will enjoy this final lesson library of the year. It has been a pleasure learning and growing with all of you!
This website has multiple resources for students and families. It also has videotaped lessons we use with students and parent videos that explain our emotional regulation program.
HEALTH CORNER
Do you look at food labels when choosing a snack?
Here is what a food label looks like and the important stuff to look for when choosing healthy food options.
Keep in mind the nutrition facts are based off of 1 serving. According to the FDA, a food with 100 calories per serving is considered a moderate amount, and a food with more than 400 calories per serving is considered HIGH. If the added sugars is less than 5% that is considered LOW If the added sugars is more than 20% that is considered HIGH Choose foods that are higher in nutrients to get more of (dietary fiber, Vitamin D, calcium, iron, and potassium) and lower in nutrients to get less of (saturated fat, trans fat, sodium, and added sugars).
