For the first time ever, our annual gala and auction went virtual, with a live broadcast on local television in Seattle and Portland, as well as Spokane, and a live YouTube feed. Despite the change in format, the event was a success, pulling in more than $380,000 to help USO Northwest in 2021. We'd like to thank all of our amazing sponsors and those who helped the event happen – especially our 2020 Presenting Sponsors, The Boeing Company and Delta Air Lines. We couldn't do it without you!!

Our centers remained busy during the month of October. Here's a rundown of events that took place:

CAMP LEWIS – From the teen hike on Oct. 3 to the pumpkin decorating on Oct. 31, Camp Lewis hosted a handful of events during October. JBLM teens came together for a trash cleanup project in Dupont on Oct. 17 and together with America's Credit Union (ACU), hosted a drive-thru trick or treat for JBLM families!

SHALI & MOBILE – Our mobile canteens was due to make a stop at Fairchild AFB on Oct. 23, but had to turn around due to a winter snow storm. Fortunately, volunteers were able to pick up and deliver the pizza provided by USONW for Airmen on base. The following day, pizza was provided to Airmen at McChord AFB!

PORTLAND – Continuing their support of First Responders and National Guardsmen fighting the Oregon wildfires, our Portland Center delivered a large number of snacks to the Oregon National Guard. A delivery was also made to the MEPS station with goodie bags distributed to service members awaiting departure to basic training!

SEATAC – Our staff and volunteers continue to work hard to keep the SeaTac Center open for flight nights, despite a shortage in manpower. Since reopening for flight nights on July 6th, the center has hosted more than 7,000 military and family members awaiting the Patriot Express to new duty stations in Japan and Korea.

On Wednesday, October 21, USO Northwest teamed with Tito's Handmade Vodka and the Seattle Mariners to distribute free hand sanitizer to Seattle-area residents at T-Mobile Park. In all, more than 2,000 bags and 4,000 bottles were provided to those who drive through to receive.
