Amazing Learning Happening!
This is just a preview of the amazing learning opportunities that have happened in the month of October at HFE!
Kindergarten Programming Ozobots
Kindergartners practiced their counting, colors, and following directions as they programmed the Ozobots!
1st Grade Spooky Trees
First grade teachers read the book The Old Spooky Tree. Students then came to the MakerSpace and created their own Spooky Trees with cardboard, foil, a chromebook, and Makey Makeys! In the end, when they touched the end of the tree limbs they heard spooky noises come from the tree!
2nd Grade 3D Town and Programming
2nd graders have been learning about maps and globes! So, they created their own cardboard town on a self created map then programmed Dash to go up and down the streets!
3rd Grade Chicken Wing Dissection
Third grade students have been learning about the Skeletal and Muscular systems so what better way to go deeper than to dissect a chicken wing!
3rd Grade STEAM Challenge
Third graders had the opportunity to do a STEAM challenge! Each group received a robot, straw, string, tape, and a push pin. They then had to create something that when programmed popped the balloon!
4th and 5th Grade Cardboard Challenge
For the 3rd year in a row our 4th and 5th grade students participated in the Cardboard Challenge! This year we collaborated with the PTO and all of the games were on display for all students and families to play during the Fall Festival!
2nd and 5th grade STEAM Challenge
Students in Second and Fifth grade completed a candy corn STEAM Challenge with their Science Buddies!
VEX Robotics Club
Fourth and Fifth grade students are working on building their robots to get ready for our competition in January!
Robo Robots Thursday Club
Fourth and Fifth grade students in Robo Robots have been doing an awesome job working as a team to complete different robot challenges! They have also started designing in Tinkercad!
Coding Club 1st Quarter
We just finished our first quarter of Coding Club! Students have been so excited to learn how to code! We have been coding using pen and paper, playing the Robot Turtles game, on the ipad and chromebook, and with robots!
Students in 4th and 5th grade are learning how to create games using code. They are working through the Google Computer Science First program.
