Make Tax Time Pay!
Free tax help is available to ensure working families get the refunds they deserve
Families in Colorado that earned less than about $50,000 in 2013 could be eligible for up to $6,000 or more in tax refunds from the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and other tax benefits. In addition, these families can save money by filing their taxes for free at one of Tax Help Colorado’s 27 free tax sites.
When filing taxes, be sure to ask about…
- The Earned Income Tax Credit is a federal tax benefit that boosts the incomes of families with children that earn lower or moderate wages. Working people without children who have incomes below about $13,600 are also eligible for a very small EITC.
- The Child Tax Credit also helps working families with children. This credit is worth up to $1,000 per child.
- Special tax credits are available for those who are saving for retirement or paying for college.
Learn more about your tax credit eligibility, and find the location of a free tax site near you, by dialing 2-1-1 (it’s a free call!), going to www.piton.org/eitc, finding us on Facebook or following us on Twitter.
Cheers for Children Save the Date:
Cheers for Children, a wine tasting and silent auction, is Riverhouse's largest annual fundraiser. In 2013, Riverhouse raised roughly $25,000 and over 200 people attended. We are proud to announce that the Glacier Club will be partnering with us again to host the 5th annual Cheers for Children event. The event will take place on May 10, 2014 at the Glacier Club from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and will include an extensive wine tasting menu, scrumptious appetizers, a high-end silent auction, live classical music and a pledge card drive. All proceeds from Cheers for Children will directly benefit the children and families of the Riverhouse Children's Center. We hope you can attend. Early bird tickets are already on sale and can be purchased online at www.Riverhousecci.org .
