Final Day of School - May 22, 2023
As the 2022-2023 school year comes to a close, all of us at LWJES wish students and families a wonderful summer break! Thank you for your support over the year, and we are looking forward to many more achievements in the upcoming school year. Happy Final Day of School!
Final Day of School Arrival Information
- No backpacks are to be brought to school on Monday, May 22, 2023.
- Morning Safekey services will be available as usual.
- Buses will run as usual for those students who qualify for bus service at the regular time in the morning.
- School breakfast will be available as usual at 8:40 a.m.
- Students may enter the building as usual at 8:40 a.m.
- The late bell will sound as usual at 9:00 a.m.
- Ms. Robertson's AM Pre-K Program: 9:00 a.m. to 10:20 a.m.
- Ms. Robertson's PM Pre-K Program: 11:10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Final Day of School Departure Information
- There will be early dismissal on the final day of school. Students will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m.
- Buses will run as usual for those students who qualify for bus service. Buses will depart once loaded after 12:30 p.m.
- There will be NO afternoon Safekey.
- Be sure to communicate with your child's teacher if your child's departure routine will be different for the final day of school.
Final Day of School General Information
- There will be NO lunch service on the final day of school.
- Semester 2 report cards will be sent home with students on Monday, May 22, 2023. Students not in attendance on the final day of school will be able to collect report cards from the front office starting on Tuesday, May 23, 2023.
- Promotion and recognition certificates will be sent home with Kindergarten and Grade 5 students on Monday. Promotion picture packages will also be sent home with students on Monday.
2022-2023 Yearbook Information
We are currently behind on our yearbook timeline, and we greatly appreciate your patience. Yearbooks will be for sale through mid-June 2023. Once yearbooks are printed and received, families who purchased a yearbook will be contacted to pick up their 2022-2023 yearbook.
Yearbook ordering flyers will be included with report cards on the final day of school. These flyers will also be available in the front office. The cost will be $25 and only cash payments will be accepted. Online ordering is not available.
2022-2023 Summer Acceleration Program Reminders
For those families who signed up their child for the Summer Acceleration Program, please be sure to return the confirmation slip that was sent home on bright green paper. The first day for the Summer Acceleration Program at LWJES is Tuesday, May 30, 2023. Only students who have registered in advance for the program are able to attend. If you are interested in your child attending the program, please contact the front office with your request. Please be advised that space is limited for each grade level.
2023 Summer Reading Challenge
The Clark County School District (CCSD) is collaborating with public libraries on the 2023 Summer Reading Challenge. Students should continue building literacy skills by reading at least 30 minutes daily during the summer. Students can win prizes by participating in the 2023 Summer Reading Challenge. The CCSD school with the most student participation in the 2023 Summer Reading Challenge will receive a trophy. The contest runs through Monday, July 31, 2023. Thank you to all the volunteers who assisted with set-up, running stations, and assisting classes on Field Day! We appreciate your time, energy, and enthusiasm for the event!
2023-2024 School Year Information
- The first day of school for the 2023-2024 school year is Monday, August 7, 2023.
- Meet the Teacher will be Friday, August 4, 2023.
- Classroom assignment letters will be sent home via US Mail in the summer.
- Online Registration via the Infinite Campus Parent Portal is required for all returning students prior to the start of the new school year.
Interest In CCSD Pre-K Program Participation
CCSD has updated the process for expressing interest in students attending Pre-K programs. We will no longer be using the interest form that was previously shared with the registration packet. Now, families must complete an interest form available HERE. Please sign up as soon as possible if you are interested in this opportunity for your pre-school aged child.

Final Day of School - Early Release
- The final day of school is Monday, May 22, 2023.
- The school day will begin at the usual time, and there will be an early dismissal this day at 12:30 p.m. Half-Day Pre-K programs will follow the schedule provided to them.
- Buses will run in the morning and at dismissal at 12:30 p.m.
- Breakfast will be served. Lunch will NOT be served this day.
- Safekey will be available in the morning. Safekey will NOT be available in the afternoon.
- Report cards will be distributed to students at dismissal.
- No backpacks are allowed to be brought to school on May 22, 2023.
