A Message from Mrs. Figueroa
This week was a short, but jammed packed week. We had our first soft lockdown drill and our second fire drill. We hope you will join us for our Town Hall Safety Meeting this Friday, October 7th via Zoom where we will go over these drills and our safety procedures. School Safety Level 3 supervisor will join us as well. Look for Mrs. Perez-Fung's email for the Zoom link.
Monday, October 3rd- 5th grade students can try out for our Spirit Team. This group will encourage and motivate our basketball teams during their games. Students need to wear sneakers and come to try-outs on Monday, October 3rd during 5th period lunch.
😍Thank you to the PTA for sponsoring two Yoga classes for each class from October to January. The PS188Q PTA Cultural Arts + Enrichment Committee have also secured Mobile Ed.'s Planetarium for all students in PreK-5 on October 27th and 28th.
📸School pictures are October 24th and October 26th. Send in your forms to order your school pictures!
🚩We were just informed that the Middle School Application will open on October 26th. More information to follow!
A Few Reminders:
📅There is no school Wednesday, October 5th in observance of Yom Kippur. There is also no school on Monday, October 10th in observance of Indigenous People's Day.
🚫NO PARKING is allowed in the Annex parking lot when you are dropping off your child. Please park on the street and walk your child to the Annex.
🛑Stop-Drop-and-Go Please think about volunteering for Stop-Drop-and-Go at either the Main or the Annex. PreK stop and drop begins MONDAY!!!
📑Self-Sustaining Afterschool is BACK! Notices were sent out on Thursday, September 29th. We will be offering a few afterschool programs on Wednesdays and Thursdays until 4:30 p.m. Be on the lookout for confirmation that your child is accepted into the program. It will be backpacked home!
🚩PTA School Store is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 7:40-7:55 a.m.
📣Snack Shack is up and running at dismissal. Everything will be $1. All proceeds will go to provide needed supplies and enrichment opportunities for the students.
✔iReady and Acadience assessments continue to be administered in your child's classroom. Results will be shared with you at parent-teacher conferences on November 3rd.
💡 PTA Empower Our Children Fundraiser is kicking off soon! Any way you can support the PTA and ultimately support the school is greatly appreciated! Partner with us to provide opportunities for your children to "dream, believe and achieve!" Also, if you have ordered a T-shirt, they will arrive in a few weeks.
