High School Highlights
Weekly Updates from Big Walnut High School
November 13, 2020
It was a full week at BWHS. On Tuesday and Wednesday, we honored the veterans in our community. On Thursday, we had our third round of (virtual) parent-teacher conferences. It will be a quick week and a half until Thanksgiving, but much is happening.
A few reminders--if you are considering changing your learning option for second semester, we ask that you do that by this Monday, November 16 (see below). Additionally, we will be offering both the ASVAB and the pre-ACT to our students in the next few weeks. Please see the Updates from the Counseling Office for more information.
As always, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teachers, school counselor or the administration if you have any questions or concerns. Feel free to contact the main office at 740-965-3766 between the hours of 7:00 and 3:15.

Second Semester Learning Options
If you would like to change your child’s learning option for the second semester (switch between in-person learning and our Virtual Learning Program), please visit the front page of our website to complete a form. YOU ONLY NEED TO COMPLETE THIS FORM IF YOU WANT TO CHANGE YOUR CURRENT SELECTION. You must complete a separate form for each child. Selections must be submitted by Monday, November 16 so we have time to make staffing adjustments for the second semester, which begins Tuesday, January 5. Because staffing will be adjusted based on the numbers in each option, changes will not be permitted during the second semester. Due to staffing and space constraints, students may not be placed with their current teachers or may not be able to attend their home buildings. If students are assigned to buildings outside of their elementary attendance zones, transportation will be provided.
If you have questions, please email VLP Coordinator Ginna Crawford at ginnacrawford@bwls.net.
Are you picking your child up before the end of the day?
We are doing our best to minimize traffic in our main office this year, so we are asking that you please do not come in to sign out your student, unless otherwise instructed. If your student needs to leave early, when possible, please call the attendance line at least an hour before you hope to pick them up (740-965-7776). This will allow our office staff time to deliver an early dismissal pass to your son or daughter and prevent you from having to wait once you arrive. Or, if you know in advance, you may send a note with them in the morning, giving them permission to sign themselves out and meet you outside in the loop. No student may leave early unless a parent/guardian has given permission. Even if your student is 18, they must have prior approval from a parent or guardian. Thank you in advance for your cooperation!
