IMPORTANT IMPORTANT IMPORTANT
Parents, thanks for reviewing the Code of Conduct with your child this year. We recently hosted a student meeting and a parent meeting with our 4th graders. These were very informative meetings. Students were surprised as we connected infractions to consequences from the Code of Conduct. This is an important area to review with your child as well. As we head into the Spring season, we sometimes see a rise in inappropriate behaviors. We have noticed more fighting and the use of inappropriate language during the last few months. The school bus is one place where students tend to make poor choices. We are asking for your support in having daily discussions with your child about appropriate behavior in school and on the bus. The school PBIS matrices are included in this newsletter. Please review these matrices with your child. We encourage students to "see something-say something" each day on the morning announcements. Please help us by reiterating this. Cell phones also continue to be a source that leads to many of the inappropriate behaviors as well. We encourage parents to check cell phones as often as possible. Students are using apps, such as, TikTok, Groupme, Snapchat, and Instagram. We have also noticed an increase in text groups across grade levels. We appreciate your support.
We need your support! The students look great in their uniforms. Be reminded, we are a uniform school. Our students wear kelly green, navy blue or white polo style tops and khaki bottoms. Many of them rock "funky" socks and shoes of their choice with their uniforms and it looks very cool! Try it to help engage your child in the uniform initiative. We appreciate your support in participating in our uniform initiative. http://wearmeuniform.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=129_154
Please ensure that students wear their school uniforms for all Field Trips. This is a safety feature as well as a school unity initiative.

Campus Traffic Update:
Wolf Creek ES is a right turn ONLY facility. This is per the traffic laws in this city. While we do understand that it is an inconvenience for those stakeholders entering from the south end of Derrick Road, this is the law. We also understand that it has been allowed for many years, however, this is the law. The encouraged traffic pattern for access to this facility is as follows:
1. Take Stonewall Tell Road to South Fulton Parkway
2. Turn Right onto South Fulton Parkway
3. Turn right onto Derrick Road
4. Turn right onto campus at 4440 Derrick Road, Wolf Creek ES
Please note: We have a request from a neighboring business, Pamper Peach Daycare. The owner asks that parents refrain from turning around in the entry of their property in the mornings and afternoons.
We ask that you “pack your patience” if you will be dropping off or picking up your child. We appreciate your thoughtfulness as you drop off in the morning. If you plan to come inside the school, please park in the large parking lot and report to the front lobby. Masks are strongly encouraged. Please use the parking spaces provided and adhere to the directions of the officers and staff on duty.
Our schoolwide theme this year is L.E.A.D. - Leaders Encourage and make A Difference! Students and staff are all charge with Blooming Where They Are Planted this year. This year we will all L.E.A.D. in our respective areas and help move our school from GREAT to Greater! We are excited to see each and every Wolf Creek stakeholder L.E.A.D. this year. We are looking forward to partnering with you as we promote excellence and leadership in our school.

Parent Handbook Reminder - Expectations for Parents, Guardians and Visiting Adults
Parents,
We do our very best to keep all students and staff members safe while on campus. These are unprecedented times in our world. We have seen more school crisis across the world in the last few years than ever before. Schools are a safe place for kids. Please be reminded of the expectations of visitor's conduct while visiting the school campus.
From our parent/student handbook:
CONDUCT EXPECTATIONS FOR PARENTS, GUARDIANS, & VISITING ADULTS
We ask all parents, guardians, and visiting adults to always remember to adhere to the expectations outlined in this handbook, as well as all Fulton County policies and procedures. The principal and assistant principal expect all employees to treat students and parents with respect. The same is expected of our parents. Being disrespectful and/or rude to our employees in person and/or on the telephone will not be tolerated. All infractions will be dealt with by administrators and/or the school’s Fulton County Police officer. Also, parents are not allowed to enter school buses, engage in confrontations at the bus stop, smoke or drink at the bus stop, or engage in disciplinary conversations with children. All issues should be addressed through the school. We strive to provide a warm and nurturing learning environment for our students. Therefore, we appreciate the cooperation of everyone involved in the lives of our students. We also ask parents to be mindful of their attire when visiting the school.
Georgia Code: O.C.G.A. 20-1-1181 Disrupting Public School: It shall be unlawful for any person to knowingly, intentionally, or recklessly disrupt or interfere with the operation of any public school, public school bus, or public-school bus stop as designated by local school boards of education. Any person violating this Code section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor of a high and aggravated nature.
School Parent and Student Handbook/Discipline Tidbits
We ask that parents review the Parent Student Handbook in its entirety. The handbook is attached for your reference.
Please review the dress code for students:
SCHOOL UNIFORM DRESS CODE We dress for success at WCES! Students in the Fulton County school system are expected to dress and groom in such a way as to reflect neatness, cleanliness, and safety. All students should dress appropriately so as not to disrupt or interfere with the educational program or the orderly operation of the school. WCES students and staff participate in a school wide uniform program. Students are strongly encouraged to wear uniforms Monday through Thursday. Uniform bottom (pants/skirt) color is khaki which may be worn with a navy blue, kelly green, or white top. There is not a uniform shoe color or type requirement. Fridays are school spirit days and we ask that all stakeholders support this community by wearing WCES t-shirts and jeans. Attire that is inappropriate include:
• Any “short-short” attire (shorts, skirts, dresses that do not pass the finger-tip-test)
• Spaghetti straps
• Strapless shirts
• Tight fitting apparel
• Leggings without shirts that cover appropriately
• Clothing with inappropriate advertisements
• Pants/shorts worn below the waistline
• Flip flops and/or strapless shoes
• Halter-tops or shirts exposing the midriffs
• Frayed jeans or holes in jeans that show skin
• "see-through" clothing or apparel which designates gangs or similar organizations or any dress that is disruptive to the educational process
School Administration will make reasonable accommodations regarding a student's religious beliefs and/or medical condition. In support of our learning environment, we also ask that all adults, parents and visitors wear appropriate attire in the building. We are role models for our students, and we always set an example for them. We asked that all stakeholders dress appropriately so as not to disrupt or interfere with the educational program or the orderly operation of the school. No sleepwear or pajamas, revealing attire, or clothing with profane/inappropriate language, please.
Bus Safety
Please review the WCES PBIS bus behavior matrix included in this newsletter with your child. Students are expected to behave appropriately on the school bus. Inappropriate behavior leads to safety concerns. We want all students to enjoy a safe ride to and from school. See the FCS safety video at the link included here:
