Dear Parents / Carers,
This week has been a strange week with most children still learning from home but with the majority of Reception children back in school. It has however been lovely to hear children's voices in school and to see through the door how well they have settled back into a routine. The children have now got used to their allocated 'bubble' and the system is working well so thank you to their parents for being so supportive and preparing the children so well.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank my amazing staff team who have worked incredibly hard over these weeks to support learning at home and prepare the school for re-opening. I have received so many lovely emails from parents and I couldn't be more proud of our Kirk Fenton team. We have enabled comprehensive learning from home alongside a range of online professional development as well as preparing for our new curriculum that will start in September. Staff are currently writing reports for each child which will come out to you before the end of the school year.
I do just have a few reminders for parents who are bringing their children to school:
- There is no capacity for Before and After-school care as private providers such as Jigsaws and Rainbows are not able to take school age children if they have been or are going into school.
- Children cannot go to a friends house for tea or be collected by another parent
- Please keep to the 2m social distancing rule on the school premises as everywhere else.
- If a child is ill (non-covid related) they cannot be looked after by someone other than parents at their home address.
We have worked extremely hard to ensure that our pupils are kept to their own 'bubbles' with their allocated adults to protect our children and staff.
I hope you are all keeping safe and well and I look forward to seeing more of the children back in school soon.

Summer Reading Challenge - June to September 2020
The Summer Reading Challenge is still going ahead this year, albeit in an online format. Children can sign up to create a free online account with their own avatar and this year's theme is: The Silly Squad. It will run from June to September and the official launch day is Friday 5 June 2020.

Website link to info for parents: https://summerreadingchallenge.org.uk/parents-carers
The digital Challenge is free to access, featuring games, quizzes and digital and downloadable activities to incentivise and encourage children and their families to take part in treading related activities at home. Although library buildings are closed, libraries will also continue to deliver the Challenge through virtual services and e-lending platforms.
With school life disrupted and many children missing the company of their friends, this year’s fun-filled Summer Reading Challenge will be all the more vital as a way of helping parents and carers find fun, family-friendly activities, maintain literacy levels and create a safe space for children to connect with their peers.
Thank you for all your support and please visit our Facebook page for any updates.
