Congratulations to Julissa and Cecilio for being named the recipients of the 2019 Tyler Hunter Gorentz Scholarship awarded through the SAISD Foundation. In honor of Tyler, a part of his legacy is raising awareness of suicide prevention.

National Merit Scholarship

Art Students Show Off Their Talent!

Artpace Chalk It Up turns Downtown San Antonio into a chalk canvas, showcasing local emerging artists and raising funds for Artpace’s education and public programs. Chalk It Up encourages everyone to become an artist for a day as we work on a collaborative city block-sized mural. Local schools, universities, and non-profits are invited to play a significant role at Chalk It Up by creating an original design together as members of “Team Works.

Spurs AVID Celebration

The AVID Celebration held October 5th vs. Orlando Magic highlighted the importance of pursuing careers through educational opportunities by bringing together students, area colleges, and positive role models who shared their stories to provide a unique learning opportunity.

1st Nine Weeks Attendance Update

We have 205 students with perfect attendance for the 1st nine weeks, 9-12 grade. This is an amazing start for the year, we hope to have many more in January. In addition, we have 3 teachers with perfect attendance for the 1st quarter: Ms. Duong, Coach Montoya and Mr. Hinojosa.

The following 3 teachers achieved the highest attendance rate for the 1st nine weeks in their AVID class:

Ruby Chapa-99%

Emily Hanley-98.7%

Attendance for each grade level for the 1st nine weeks is as follows:

9th - 98.39% = 1st

10th - 97.61% = 3rd

11th - 97.66% = 2nd

12th - 97.31% = 4th

It's Time to Renew Our Charter

The time has come for us to resubmit the application for a new charter.

Purpose of the Renewal:

  • Continue service as an Early College High School
  • Continue our partnership with San Antonio College
  • Continue enrolling students who reside outside the SAISD Boundry
  • Establish new autonomies (scheduling, calendaring, etc.)
