Cracker Trail Elementary Newsletter
February 2023
From the Principal
I can not believe we are already into our second month of 2023! I want to thank everyone for their continued support of our Mustangs, our staff, and our school. We appreciate all of the support and our school remains Mustang Strong!
We finished last month strong with Literacy Week. Mrs. Prince, our literacy committee, and staff planned some great events. Congratulations to our Mustangs who made their AR Goal! We look forward to more students meeting their goal as the year goes on.
As discussed previously, our school earned a “B” grade for the 21/22 school year. Our 3rd grade FSA ELA (English Language Arts) percentage of students meeting proficiency was six percentage points over the district average. In math, our percentage of CTE 3rd graders who scored as proficient was six points above the state average. Congratulations to our students, caregivers, and teachers!!!!
Looking forward, students in grades 3-5 are preparing for this year’s Florida Assessment of Student Thinking. Our students will be tested in English language arts & math while our 5th graders will be tested additionally in science. We will share more information closer to testing dates. As in the past, we will ask our students to Do Their Best as we do each and every day.
Please review our dress code. All students should be wearing athletic shoes or shoes approved per CTE’s dress code. Students are at recess and PE every day. As per our school’s student handbook: “A student’s dress and appearance should not cause disruption, distract from the educational process, or create a health or safety concern for themselves or others.”
Last but not least, there is no school on Thursday, February 9th and Friday, February 10th. Enjoy your extended weekend by spending time with your family.
Sincerely,
Mr. Rick Kogelschatz
