What's Going On in Our Classroom??

Math News

We are currently wrapping up our study of measurement. This includes customary and metric measurements of length, weight, and capacity. Much of their understanding includes how to covert inches to feet, feet to yards, and centimeters to meters, etc. Also, cups, quarts, gallons, and milliliters and liters. We will also be working on pounds, ounces, and kilograms, grams, and milligrams. We will also be reviewing place value, multiplication/division, and fractions in preparation of taking our EOG's at the beginning of June. Students should continue to work in iready reading and math on weak and challenge goals.

Reading News

We are primarily working on non-fiction reading. Summarizing is one of the skills that we have been working with daily. Being able to pull out the main ideas of each paragraph and then use them to create a summary. Also, cause and effect, inference (looking for clues to the author's meaning), context clues, and comparing and contrasting. Use iready reading to review each of these skills.

Social Studies News

We are currently working on North Carolina history and its connection to the American Revolution, Colonial America, Civil War and the economy.
