AUGUST IS HERE!!! SCHOOL IS AROUND THE CORNER

Registration

Registration Day will be Thursday, August 19, 2021, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. We will have Lakeshore Photography here to take school pictures. LMAS will also be here to give

vision/hearing screenings for incoming Kindergartners. We will have several agencies present with information: The CAMP (Counseling and Medical Place-school site medical place), Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Marquette (staring a program here in Newberry this fall) and Sault Tribe.

Registration is for new enrollees and for updating information in PowerSchool for those returning to the district. This is important so you are receiving updates from the school as well as the school being able to contact you. Updating information can take place online if parents have their login information for PowerSchool.

Grades 7-12 students will have the opportunity to speak with Ms. Palmer regarding their classes schedules at this time. Schedules will be posted in PowerSchool one day prior to registration.

If you have any questions please call 293-3226 ext. 1101 or 293-3201.

Time school starts

The beginning time of each school day is changing this year to 8:15 a.m. School doors will open at

7:55 a.m. so students can enter the building. K-6 students will go to the cafeteria where breakfast

will be offered. Grades 7-12 students can choose a breakfast-to-go at their end of the building.

The first morning bell will ring at 8:10 a.m. This is indicator for students to head to their classrooms

to be prepared for class. Students need to be in their classrooms or first hour by 8:15 a.m.

Arrival 7:55-8:10 a.m. & Dismissal 3:04 p.m.

Buses

• Arriva & Dismissal: Buses will continue to drop off students in front of the school on the

south end of the driveway. (same as last year)

Walkers/Bike Riders

• Arriva & Dismissal: Students walking to school or riding bikes will enter the building at the

front main entrance by the library.

Parent Drop-Off/Pick Up

• Arrival: Parents dropping off students by car will continue to do so at the back of the

building. Unless more restrictions become mandated again, this year parents may park

behind the building and enter with their students thru the cafeteria.

• Dismissal: Since safety of our students is the #1 priority, the same procedure will be followed as

for last school year. Parents will pick up their child/children in the back of the school by car or in

person, allowing for a safe and direct connection with parents/guardians.

Return to School Plan

The Board of Education will be reviewing 2020-2021 and revising for 2021-2022. The Board of Education will be voting on a plan at a regular monthly board meeting on Monday, August 16, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. in the public library.
