New High School Naming & Mascot
Thank you for participating!
Good Morning!
I am extremely excited to share with you that last night the Board of Education approved my recommendation for the naming of our new high school! The new high school has been named North Point High School and the mascot is the Grizzlies.
The High School Naming form was open from August 13 through September 4 and shared with the families of students currently in grades K-10 who live in the new high school attendance area. There were 269 entries submitted for the school name and I narrowed the list based on popularity. From the beginning, I have stated that our stakeholder’s voice is valued and extremely important to me. Therefore, it was an easy decision when the most popular name was North Point High School with the most popular mascot being a grizzly. Having a name and mascot is an important step in building the culture and spirit of the North Point community and I would like to thank everyone who submitted their ideas and suggestions.
High School Selection
As a reminder, if you are currently in 9th or 10th grade, you should have also received this information about making your selection for the new high school. Current freshmen and sophomores will have the choice to attend the new high school or remain at their current school. Juniors will remain at their current school for their senior year. Families will have until September 25 to make this important decision. While this date may seem early, it is necessary in order to staff the building appropriately to meet our students’ needs.
As always, please free to reach out to me if you have any questions about our new school!
