Warner Update

Making a difference, one person at a time
Go 24 Hours without complaining.
Not even once...
Then watch how
your life
starts
changing.
When I paused my initial reaction was, oh that's easy. But then I started thinking about it. I thought about how I complain in my head as I wait in line. I thought about how I complain about the person cutting in and out of traffic on the highway. I thought about complaining about cold weather. Before to long I realized that this challenge (if you're honest with yourself) is actually quite difficult.
Next, I decided before I actually commit to it I wanted to track my complaints. My first day I became frustrated with myself. I had six before noon. Albeit most complaints I kept in my head, but I count those. I count them because they impact my attitude. At this point I started checking myself.
Each time I have the urge to complain or I actually start to complain I try my best to catch myself and pause. Since I first saw the sign I've committed to eliminating negativity.
Over the next several weeks I guarantee friends and family will ask you how your year is going. The way we answer that very common question says a lot about our outlook, mindset and attitude. My choice is eliminating complaints. I believe it will help me be a better version of myself.
Will you take the challenge?

* Staff: if you have a family that you are VERY concerned about for the holidays please let me know by the end of the day Monday.
* Reminder: this week has a tendency to be very emotional for students. The anticipation of Christmas is both exciting and nerve wracking for kids. Additionally, we do have many students that simply DO NOT look forward to Winter Break. As the adults it is critical that we show patience and grace. Most of all, try your best to remember what it was like to be 8 years old the week before Christmas. If you can step into your students shoes it will only help.
