Bentley Russell, pictured with Mr. Belcher (DHS Art teacher), received an honorable mention in the Congressional Art Competition.
Check out the 3D Sculpture Project on the "Island" at Decatur High School!
Mr. Belcher and his 4th period class created a 3D Sculpture project inspired by the artist, George Segal!
The intent of these installations is to occupy space, demanding interaction by interrupting preconceived ideas about the space. Our installation is in the hallway of the 2nd floor of the Island at D-High! Students and teachers must acknowledge its presence and interact accordingly. The concept is designed to find enlightenment amidst the tribulations and confusion of high school and being a teenager! What a perfect project for our students at Decatur High School! Thank you to Mr. Belcher for inspiring our students and leading our school in unique art compositions!
