Your Task:
In teams of 2, you and your partner will become an advertising agency and will be creating a social media marketing campaign for the business of your choice (first come first serve, no duplicates). You are to give suggestions on how you can increase awareness of the business to the target markets you identify.
You will be responsible for:
1. Creating a presentation (Using Genial.ly) with information you have gathered as well as an explanation of your promotional campaign.
2. Creating three ads for your pitch.
3. Pitching the campaign to your client (your instructor and class).
Things to include in your presentation:
I. Description of the company.
Describe the company you have chosen. Where is it located? When did it start? Include demographics of the area, describe the atmosphere of the business, its products or services, and its target market (primary and secondary). Describe its size, the number of employees, the image it conveys, price lines of products or services, etc. List what you think are the most pertinent 8-10 facts that are needed to convey knowledge about your company. You will need to utilize websites (if available) and various search engines to gather this information.
II. Objective(s) of the campaign
(minimum of three – probably maximum of 4 remember you only have 1-4 weeks).
In this section, you need to have the main idea for your campaign. Remember this is a promotional campaign so one of your objectives may be to increase sales (realistically not more than 10%). -why else have a campaign? What are you trying to achieve?
Are you trying to expand or penetrate a target market? Change an image? Increase the market share? Are you introducing a new line? Promoting a season? What is the purpose of this campaign?
Keep in mind that a campaign can only do so much…keep your objectives realistic and measurable! If you cannot measure the results somehow then it is extremely difficult to determine if this campaign is successful.
III. Schedule of events
Promotional activities must include the following:
Be specific in this section with when these posts will take place within your 1-4 week promotion. Make sure your social media activities are realistic for the business (budget-wise), and focus on reaching the target market and fulfilling the above stated objectives. State the specific day of the month, make it sound as realistic as possible.
You must produce an example of what the post would actually look like. Be sure to look at what will work the best for your business, not just what you like or what is flashy.
IV. Statement of benefit to the business.
This section basically restates the objectives of the campaign. By doing this and that, we will have… Again, make sure your objectives can be measured. Include here ways to know that the promotion would be successful. (Sales have increased customer surveys, focus groups, etc.)
V. Bibliography
You will need to keep track of all websites and contacts you use for this project to put in this section. You do not have to site within the fact sheets, but I do want you to list your resources here
