First, an updated OCSU Calendar is linked below.
Second. The Daily Health Check (Bus Tickets) for the first week will be mailed home in time for September 8th. We will send a larger supply via backpack mail during the first week of school.

Fall Athletics
Based on the new AOE guidance for fall sports, we have decided to hire soccer coaches for our k-8 schools. Practices can officially begin during the week of 9/8/20.
For now, we are in Step II. This will be reassessed after the first two weeks of school. Step II requirements are as follows:
- Outdoor sports with short-duration incidental contact are allowed (soccer)
- No indoor sports are allowed and no practices can be held indoors
- Facial coverings are required to be worn by all players, coaches, and parents (when they drop off or pick up students and get out of a vehicle)
- When athletes are not actively participating in practice, social distancing regulations must be followed
- No games against other teams are permitted (just practices)
If we are told that we can hold games in a couple of weeks, the requirements will be as follows:
- No more than 150 spectators can be present at any outdoor event
- Spectators must wear masks and follow social distancing rules
- Officials must wear masks as well
- We will not play teams outside of OCSU
Because we are working hard to limit the number of contacts students and staff members have in a day, the 6th graders will not be invited to participate this year unless we need numbers to create a team. Our 7th and 8th grade cohort includes 26 eligible students. Anyone enrolled at the Brownington Central School, whether choosing in-person learning, remote learning, or home study is eligible.
If your 7th or 8th grader is interested in playing soccer, please fill out the attached forms and return them to me. 6th graders will be told during the first week of school if we have any available slots.
Reminders
Masks:
Please remember to send your child to school with a cloth mask. We will have extras on hand to provide students who may forget, damage, or lose them. Children over the age of two will be required to wear them in school and on the bus, per state guidelines. Feel free to contact the principal if you have any questions or concerns. It would be helpful to acclimate your child to wearing a mask prior to the start of school. You can find some helpful information here.
Travel:
We must abide by the Governor’s travel restrictions. If you and your family plan to travel out of Vermont, you may be required to quarantine before your child can be permitted into the building. You can find the information you need at https://accd.vermont.gov/covid-19/restart/cross-state-travel. This is updated each Friday, and we must go by the most current information.
Sick Children:
If your child is not feeling well, please keep them home. It is critical for the safety of everyone that we do our best to limit the possibility of exposure. We all have a role in making sure our staff and students are safe.
~~~~~~~~
Please know that a directive from the state or AOE may change these procedures/guidelines at any time. Feel free to reach out with questions and concerns at 754-8467 or lfliegelman@ocsu.org.
