A Message from Principal Joshua

Greetings Lions,

We are quickly approaching the last 9 weeks of this school year. The final quarter officially begins on March 11th. Monday, March 15th, students may return in person by indicating that decision on the Learning Option Survey enclosed in this newsletter. Testing season is also a part of the final quarter of school. The U.S. Department of Education did not waive end of year assessments (EOCT, AP, etc.). As a result, we will move forward with our testing plans and communicate them with you as soon as they are finalized. I know our staff and students have been working diligently to make gains despite the many challenges presented during this unprecedented year. It is imperative that students continue working hard by attending class each day and being actively engaged. Virtual students should always have their cameras on so the teacher can see and interact with them. Every student should be completing every assignment every day! I appreciate your continued support with these expectations.

Current Sophomores and Juniors now have a very unique opportunity to participate in Course Extension. Course extension gives students an opportunity to earn a passing grade in a core content class they may have failed first semester. This will assist them with remaining on track for graduation. Please pay specific attention to the Course Extension section of the newsletter for more details.

We are still working to increase our PTSA membership. Out PTSA Officers are in place and have exciting plans for the end of this school year as well as next year. Please consider joining the Lithia Springs HS PTSA by clicking on the link at the end of this newsletter!

Finally, LSHS is celebrating Women's History Month by highlighting the amazing accomplishments of women throughout history. Pictured below, are just a few of the phenomenal women that we are taking time out to celebrate as part of our daily announcements!

Course Extension

Please view your students final grades from first semester. If your student scored between 55 - 69 in a Core Content Class (Math, Science, Social Studies, English), your student has the opportunity to participate in Course Extension to gain credit for the class. There is a $50 fee per course to participate in Course Extension and it will begin March 22nd for Sophomores and Juniors. This opportunity is offered exclusively by Lithia Springs HS. If your student does not participate during this session in March, the next available opportunity for your student will be summer school. The cost of summer school will be $200. If you have questions about Course Extension, please reach out to your student's Counselor. Course Extension will be held Monday, March 22nd - Friday, April 2nd from 4:15 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. The course is virtual. Students will login to a Google Classroom to attend their class.

Use the link below to print the registration form and bring it with your payment. Payments can be made with cash or money order. All payments are due by Friday, March 19th.
