2020-21 Instructional Calendar Board REVISED due to COVID (Posted 08/04/2020) (PDF)
Dear Alamo Families,
This month, we receive our preliminary enrollment projections permitting us to begin students' tentative class assignments for the next school year. The method of creating new classes is very complex. Our staff collaborates articulating student attributes to ensure that each cohort is balanced and each student is placed appropriately. The participation of all grade levels provides valuable data to inform placement decisions. The teachers know the students explicitly to commit them to the best group to thrive throughout the school year.
We use the following guidelines to build balanced, heterogeneous classes:
● Gender Ratio
● Academic Ability
● Special Education Needs
● Limited English Proficiency Needs
● GATE Clustering
● Behavioral Profile
● Learning Styles
● Leadership Ability
● Social-Emotional Profile
● Twins Placement
● Students Separated Due to Irreconcilable Conflicts
We have discontinued the form for placement requests as the guidance outlined above is extensive. However, please send me an email if you have information about your child not included in the criteria mentioned.
Please know that we've received all messages from parents with requests for next year's placement. They are all noted. We appreciate the input but can't guarantee them to maintain balanced classes.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
Kindly,
Monina
ALL LIBRARY BOOKS ARE DUE. PLEASE RETURN THEM TO THE BOX IN FRONT OF THE OFFICE SO THAT THEY CAN BE CHECKED IN.

Thank You Ed Fund Board 20-21!
I want to take this moment to recognize the amazing parent volunteers on the 20-21 Ed Fund Board. Together, this team kept our Alamo spirit alive during a crazy time and focused on providing our children with valuable enrichment opportunities. We can not do this alone as volunteers...our strength comes from working together to achieve a common goal. Thank you, team! It has been an honor serving as your President!
An extra special shout out to graduating parent volunteer, Cristina Armstrong. Crissi has served on the Ed Fund Board in numerous roles including Co-President from 2017-2019 and SRVEF Liaison and Website Coordinator from 2019-Present. Crissi has always gone above and beyond in her role as a volunteer on the board. Her creativity, dedication, and commitment will forever be captured in the numerous Ed Fund videos she helped to create for our live auction galas. If you are new to Alamo or missed our 2019 gala, copy and paste the link below to get a glimpse of Alamo Elementary and pay extra attention to the vocals and lyrics by Crissi. These amazing videos not only capture our special community but they also capture how truly lucky we are to have volunteers like Crissi at Alamo Elementary. (Thank you to Bar Mizne for impeccable tech skills and dedication!)
Crissi’s innovative approach has left a legacy of resources and samples for future officers. Crissi created and managed DropBox, Google Calendar, templates, website and launched the Ed Fund on Instagram years ago. Her infrastructure has created many tools, trainings and resources for years to come. Crissi has worked hard to make students’ enrichment and engagement extra special.
Crissi-We wish you the best of luck as your amazing 5th grader moves on to middle school. Please know you can always count on your Alamo family. #alamostrong
