West Wing Staff Appreciation Week
Please join us in celebrating our West Wing School educators that make an impact on your children each day at West Wing! Our PTSA has some amazing ideas for parents and students to show their appreciation next week!
We need help with our crosswalks. It is a really important volunteer opportunity and we are so thankful to all of the parents that have already stepped up and assisted us this past week in the crosswalk and in the cafeteria!
Congratuations!
This is quite an accomplishment. Both teams will be playing at Barry Goldwater High School at 11:00 am tomorrow, 4/30. We hope to see you there supporting our teams as we work to bring home more championship trophies for WW this year!

Hello Families,
Our motto in school this week is:
I am someone people can count on.
This week's goal is for students to understand that being someone people can count on means you act with integrity. In school, we explain that having integrity means doing the right thing, even when no one is watching. There are many times when our children may act with integrity. Such as:
• Not passing on unkind gossip about other people.
• Following through on promises made to others.
• Returning found items without expecting a reward.
• Admitting when you are wrong or made a mistake, even if no one noticed.
When you see your child acting with integrity, share what integrity means to you and how important it is to do the right thing, regardless of whether or not you get acknowledged for your actions. Helping kids understand they do the right thing because that is who they are; they are a person who acts with integrity is very affirming. It helps kids shape their own beliefs about themselves and guides them in future decision-making.
Integrity is choosing your thoughts and actions based on values rather than personal gain.
*A while back, there was a story about Reuben Gonzolas, who was in the final match of his professional racquetball tournament. He was playing the champion for his first shot at a victory on the pro circuit. At match point in the fifth and final game, Gonzolas made a shot into the front corner to win the tournament. The referee called it good, and the linemen confirmed the shot was a winner.
But after a moment's hesitation, Gonzolas turned and declared that his shot had skipped into the wall, hitting the floor first. As a result, the serve went to his opponent, who went on to win the match. Reuben Gonzolas walked off the court; everyone was stunned. Here was a player with everything officially in his favor, with victory in his grasp. Who disqualifies himself at match point and loses? When asked why he did it, Gonzolas replied, "It was the only thing I could do to maintain my integrity."
Developing integrity in our children isn't a one-time lesson because integrity is a choice we make repeatedly. What's nice is that when our children do the right thing, they will forever have that memory to remind themselves that they are a person who acts with integrity and, therefore, will work to maintain it.
Have a great week,
Danna Evans All Things E.Q.
