Mid-March...already?
It's Mid March...
It's the 4th and final quarter of the year and we're in for a fun two weeks. This week is going to be a mixed bag of various events. Kate and I are out Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. The ILT will be getting together again on Thursday, and Friday looks awesome with Donuts at dawn and a short visit from the crew of Shrek. See below for more details.
This is the time to check your computers and tablets to make sure everything is running smoothly and working properly. If you have any tech concerns, please make sure to send a help request to IT ASAP. We're coming up on testing season and they will be getting very busy very quickly.
Speaking of testing (3-5th grade) This is just a quick reminder that we have a practice ELA assessment in illuminate that is modeled after the AIR test. Below is the information on how to get to the assessment.
Here is the process for finding the assessments.
1. Mayfield City Schools Webpage
2. Staff Links
3. Illunimate ED
4. Grade Level Common Folder
5. Google doc w/ assessments
· Grade Level ELA practice test is at the bottom of the page, below the math common assessments.
· There are around 16-20 questions that have been selected for the students to practice. These are all modeled after the AIR test.
· This is a mix of reading passages, and typing passages.
6. Feel free to review the assessment and discuss the results with the kids, especially the writing.
7. Please let me know if you have specific questions.
Have a great week everyone

Donuts at Dawn
Donuts at Dawn will be taking place on Friday, March 15th, from 7:00-8:00 a.m. We will be organizing it the same way as last year. On this day, any students who arrive with a parent or guardian will be directed to the gym to enjoy breakfast with their visitor. Any students who arrive by bus or parent pick-up without a parent/guardian will be directed to their classrooms. All AM supervision will take place in the classrooms on this day.
For students whose parents are unable to join us for this event, we will be using the attached form and procedures.
1. The attached info will go home to all parents on Friday – hard copy in bookbags and electronically.
2. If a parent notifies you that their child may not have a donut, please send this information to Mrs. Argie.
3. On the day of the event, donuts will be delivered to each HR for any students who are not accompanied by a parent/guardian. These should be eaten in the classroom. An alternate plan may be created for specific homerooms based on individual student needs. (We will be in touch if an alternate plan needs to be made for your homeroom.) HR teachers have two options for getting these donuts for your students:
a. Contact Mrs. Argie with the number of donuts needed (she prefers a text (216)346-1706) and someone from our office staff will bring them to you. Let her know if you would like all of the same donuts, or if you would like a variety for the students to choose from.
b. If a support staff member is available and willing to get the donuts for you, they are welcome to come get donuts for your students and bring them to your classroom. (See Mrs. Argie for take-out containers if you are helping a teacher with delivery.)
