PUNKIN CHUNKIN A BIG SUCCESS

Fourth-grade students across our District met on the Shadow Hills campus on November 13th for a lesson in physics during the Punkin Chunkin. Students built trebuchets and used their math skills to catapult pumpkins, softballs, golf balls and a variety of other objects.

Thank you Alpine Education Foundation, Kiwanis and the Veterans of Foreign Wars for funding and supporting the fourth-grade Punkin Chunkin. The experience and the knowledge the students gained is priceless!

THOUGHTEXCHANGE UPDATE

Our Thoughtexchange was a complete success with over 500 ideas submitted and more than 31,000 ratings.

A committee of parents, teachers, staff, community members and administrators have been hard at work identifying key themes and priorities and are working on crafting potential ideas to improve our District.

At present, our committee is working on the following topics: increasing enrollment and effectively utilizing facilities; improving programs and rigor in the classroom; identifying ways to promote the excellent programs and work occurring across the District; and developing options for a high school.

Thank you for participating and sharing your thoughts with us! As the committee's work continues we will update you with their progress.

WHEEL OF EXPERTS - S.T.E.A.M. EFFORTS

We are thrilled to share that the “Wheel of Experts”, a Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (S.T,E.A.M.) based multiple pathway program provided for student enrichment has been a huge success. Students from kindergarten through 5th grade are exposed to multiple STEAM based courses throughout the school year. As students progress in the program year-to-year, the curriculum becomes more advanced and allows students to explore pathways of interest going into and throughout middle school and high school. This terrific Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math offering is designed for Alpine Union students from Kindergarten through the 5th Grade and is supported and funded through the generosity of the Alpine Education Foundation.
