Dear Parents/Guardians of Incoming Kindergarteners,
After reviewing our transportation routes, we determined that it was necessary to update the
boundaries for our kindergarten academies for the 2023-2024 school year. Your child’s
kindergarten will no longer be based on the elementary schools. It will be determined by your
residence within these newly established boundaries.
To find your kindergarten, please use the map on our website. You can type in your exact
address to find which school your kindergartener will attend.
If you have already registered for kindergarten and your school changed, the principal will
contact you. You do not need to fill out a new enrollment form. Your child’s information will be
transferred to their new school.
If you have not registered for kindergarten yet, please do so using the updated map. The
enrollment forms can be found on our website.
We appreciate your understanding and patience during this transition. If you have any
questions, please contact the office of the Assistant Superintendent for Foundational Learning
at 317-789-3724.
Sincerely,
Perry Township Schools

SOCIAL WORK CORNER
How to Help Your Child Feel Loved
In February, we take time to celebrate the special people in our lives. This is a great time to think about how we are making our kids feel loved and special. Many families get caught up in buying things or big shows of affection, but what kids really need are much easier to do.
Spend Time with Your Child
Spending just a few minutes playing a game, having a cup of cocoa, or eating a meal together is the best way to show your child that he or she is important.
Praise and Kind Words
Use praise when your child does something well. Be specific and reflect on their talents or efforts. “You worked really hard on this” or “I love how you are always thinking about others”. Positive comments help a child feel seen and develop a sense of identity.
Ask Them about Their Day
Many parents ask “what did you do today at school?” and are frustrated when kids do not provide much information. Instead try playing “Best and Worst” or “Rose and Thorn”. Take turns sharing the worst thing that happened today and then the best. When you share as well, children learn that everyone has feelings and everyone has good and bad days.
Provide Structure
Daily routines, clear expectations, and consistency help kids feel safe and loved. This includes bedtimes, schoolwork, and screen time. If your student has clear and consistent expectations, there will be less arguing and more room for positive time together.
Tell them!
Hug your kids. Say I love you. Make thoughtful small gestures such as a note in their lunchbox or on their bed. You can even let them decide what you make for dinner once in a while. Whether it is a hug, an ‘I love you”, or a thoughtful gesture, your child will know that he or she is special to you.
Unit 3-- Empathy and Kindness
Your child is participating in the Second Step program at Mary Bryan Elementary. Information was sent out about the content in this program at the beginning of the year.

Our students complete one unit (5 lessons) each 9 weeks. Each unit has a different focus. This quarter, all of our students will be learning about Empathy and Kindness. Children learn how to recognize kindness and act kindly, have empathy for others and take others’ perspectives, and recognize kind acts and empathy as important elements of building and maintaining relationships.
The Parent information for each grade level is attached below. This will give you an overview of what your student is learning and ideas for how to build on these skills at home.

As we begin to host more home athletic events this year we want to remind families and
students about conduct at our events.
Students attending athletic events should only be sitting in the stands during the games. For
the safety of our students and guests, no one should be playing behind the bleachers or
along the stands. Additionally, no one should enter the event with outside footballs, soccer
balls, etc. They will be taken away.
We appreciate your cooperation and thank you for supporting our athletes!
Student Ticket Policy

tournaments for FREE this school year (2022-2023).
● Grades 9-12 will be admitted free with their student ID.
● Grades K-8 will be admitted free when accompanied by a paid adult.
● Middle school students can attend middle school athletic events for free with their ID.
