DPM Newsletter - October 28
Friday, October 28, 2022
Dear DPM Families,
This week’s newsletter is short and sweet! We had a wonderful week with students learning about themes in 5th grade Language Arts and ratios, rates and percentages in 6th grade math. Our seventh grade media arts students painted with lights and 8th grade students attended a Community Service Kickoff Assembly.
Additionally, in 5th grade we started Executive Functioning lessons with LA and Social Studies classes. We will continue with these lessons in all classes until our students throughout the grade have experienced all eight lessons. 6th graders will engage in these lessons in January.
Sincerely,
Megan Eigenrauch, 5/6 Principal
Sam Paulsen, 7/8 Principal

Halloween Costume Guidelines
For Halloween on Monday, students are allowed to wear costumes to school. With this in mind, we are asking and expecting that the dress code be followed. If it is not followed, parents will be contacted to bring alternative clothing for their child.
Students may only apply make-up, color their hair, or put on costumes at home. Parents should have full knowledge of what their child will wear to school.
Students are not permitted to wear masks.
Students should respect political and/or religious beliefs.
Students should not wear anything that has a sexual connotation or would be considered inappropriate dress.
Costumes that promote graphic violence are not allowed (i.e. blood, gore, etc).
Students should not use costume props of a violent nature, such as toy guns, toy knives, and/or swords, etc.
In addition, there will be special celebrations at each grade level, so please look to your homeroom teacher for more information if you have any questions.
Deerpath Rd Closed Between Ahwahnee and Rte 41
Fri., November 4 - 9:00 AM through Mon., November 7 - 6:00 AM
This closure is required for the bridge support concrete walls to be poured in conjunction with the ComEd bridge replacement project.
On Friday afternoon, November 4, DPM drivers will not be able to turn left (West) onto Deerpath Road following afternoon school pickup.
Drivers should allow extra time for travel during this road closure.
Please note that Deerpath Road is scheduled to reopen on Monday, November 7 at 6:00 AM. That time could move later, based on weather conditions over the preceding weekend. Dry conditions will allow the concrete to cure in time for 6:00 AM reopening of the road. Rainy conditions will require more time for the concrete to dry. We are collaborating with the City of Lake Forest to keep you informed.

MAP Testing
Winter MAP test will be administered to all students in grades 5-8 on November 30th and December 1st. Make ups will take place on December 6th and 7th. Please remind your child to eat a healthy breakfast and to come to school with a fully charged iPad. The MAP test is a nationally normed assessment designed to measure growth over time in the areas of reading and math. The test is computer-adaptive, so it adjusts the difficulty level of questions according to student responses. For more information about the MAP test, visit https://www.nwea.org/parent-toolkit/.
