Waikawa Bay School Thursday 18th November 2021

Principal's Message

KI NGA MATUA NGA MIHI KI A KOUTOU KATOA GREETINGS TO EVERYONE

Dear Parents/Caregivers, Tēnā koutou

The effects of the Covid 19 restrictions on our way of life are certainly showing, especially as we head towards the end of the year. It was with great disappointment that I had to announce the changes to our end of year activities, especially the Athletics and the Prizegiving.

One positive for our community is that all our staff are double vaccinated, so there is no pressure on our staffing levels for the rest of this year and into next year.

There are quite a few end of year trips and activities planned. Due to Mandatory Vaccinations for all education employees and volunteers, any parents accompanying students as supervisors will need to have at least their first vaccination. If you are attending a school trip or activity you will need to provide proof of your vaccination record at the school office. We will take a photocopy for future reference.

The teachers are currently very busy assessing and writing reports. These will be sent home on Friday 10th December.

I have noticed some parents crossing Waikawa Road after school with their children, but not on the School Crossing. Could please ensure you use the School Crossing after school.

Thank you for your support

SCHOOL POOL

After some tireless work from Mr Keenan, the school pool will be ready for our tamariki next week. Please remind your children to take their togs and towels to school on Monday. Keys will be available to purchase from the office, for those wanting to use the pool outside of school hours. We are currently looking for volunteers willing to help with the pool upkeep over the Christmas holiday period. If you would be available to take this on for at least one week there will be no charge for the key.

Key costs: $35 for the Christmas holiday period, ending on the first day of term one.

$70 for the complete swim season, ending April 2022.
