Storm Forecast for April 19-23
Updates to in-person learning
Dear SQHS Families,
We are excited to continue to bring our SQHS family community back together with students and teachers. Our hope is that we can participate in full in-person instruction starting next fall. We want to see our students!!!
To be clear, beginning Monday April 19th, we add Wednesdays to our current cohort model. This week, students with last name beginning with A-L are invited to in-person instruction Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Students with last name beginning with M-Z are invited for Thursday and Friday. Then next week, the Wednesday group switches to M-Z. This rotation will continue through the remainder of the year.
5 Days In-Person Instruction Option
In light of Dr. Baker’s April 15 message, we would like to get a pulse on how many families plan to take advantage of having their students attend 5 days a week. This helps with our daily planning. Please complete this Family Survey if you have not yet done so.
Students are able to engage in five days of in-person instruction as classroom capacity allows beginning Monday, April 26th.
Please feel free to contact your administrative team with questions.
Thank you,
Miguel Perez, Principal
Katie Jones, Assistant Principal
Marty Atkins, Assistant Principal
Laurel Peak, Administrative Intern
Erin Burke, Administrative Intern
Spring "Spirit" Week
In an effort to bring back a little normalcy and fun to the school day, the Leadership Class and ASB are proud to announce Spring Spirit Week 2021.
Dress up days are attached, so get ready to show your inner Mathletes and Athletes, Hawaiian flare, Wednesday PJ's, Throwback 70s attire, and Lightning Bolt Yellow.
We will also be doing Class Trivia Competitions during Advisory (plus a Personal Care Drive Competition to help benefit the District Family Resource Center), and Class Hall Decorations.
Please feel free to dress up for all the days. And send pictures if you are learning remotely that day.

Student surveys in March and April
A Message from the Department of Teaching and Learning
Dear families,
We will be giving two different student surveys in March and April to better understand how to meet the needs of your children.
The March survey is complete.
From April 14 to 21, students in grades 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11 will be asked to fill out a survey from Bellingham Public Schools that focuses on student outcomes of The Bellingham Promise, as well as feedback on instruction, school climate, belonging and student safety.
Both surveys will be optional assignments given by teachers for students to do online during asynchronous time. Parents/guardians and staff may not be able to view student sessions via apParent or ClassPolicy while students take the survey. Grade 3 teachers have the option to do the district survey during live learning since they meet four days a week in-person.
We will be sending a survey to families in May to get feedback on school culture, family engagement and instruction. Your feedback will help us determine what we are doing well and areas for improvement. Please watch for that survey later this spring.
You and your child’s feedback is important to us, and we encourage all to participate. If you have questions, please contact Carol Stewart in educational technology.
