TERRY FOX RUN
National Schools Run 2016
Terry Fox National Schools Run 2015
Terry's Marathon of Hope took place in 1980 with the simple objective of informing Canadians of the importance of finding a cure for cancer. With fierce determination, he ran an average of 42 kilometres (26 miles) every day for 143 days. Terry was forced to end his run on September 1, 1980 when the cancer spread to his lungs.
By February 1, 1981, Terry's dream of raising $1 for every Canadian was realized - the Terry Fox Marathon of Hope fund totaled $24.17 million. Terry died in June 1981.
Every year thousands of children lace up their running shoes to walk and run to help raise awareness and funds for cancer research. To date, over $650 million has been raised worldwide for cancer research in Terry's name. At Chris Hadfield PS, we are proud to be part of this great cause!
In our first 2 years we have raised almost $2000, our goal for this year is $1500!
Fundraising
We are encouraging students to bring in a "Toonie for Terry" if possible, so that we can contribute to helping raise funds for the Terry Fox Foundation that does amazing work for Cancer Research. We will be collecting toonie all throughout the month of September up until our school run on Friday, September 30th.
T-Shirts
Please return the form and money by Monday, September 19th.
