RMS Knightly News

Week of October 4, 2021

Hello RMS Knights and Families

Our October's Honor the Castle theme is "Celebrating Successes". One way we will support our Knights’ efforts is through teaching goal setting skills. We believe that goals can empower our knights to strive for self- improvement and have control over their action steps. This skill includes steps that will encourage our students to achieve short- and long-term goals.

By reaching these goals, our knights continue to gain confidence and can identify, adopt, and maintain the actions that will help them be successful in the future. One goal-setting model that we will share with our knights involve three steps.

*The first is to help students identify a goal. The goal should be exact, very clearly defined, and have some way that it can be measured.

*The second step is to create and design an action plan for accomplishing the goal. This includes breaking their goal up into smaller steps (if needed) and identifying what resources our knights need in order to help them reach their goal.

*The third step is to reflect upon if their goal was met or not. Our staff will share with our knights throughout the school year that goal setting is an important life-long skill to practice for school and at home.

We will be sharing this goal sheet with our Knights for a PBIS incentive this month-

Count Day is Wednesday, 10/6/21

This Wednesday (10/6/21) is Michigan’s Schools first Count Day for the 2021-2022 school year. Count Day is when all public schools in Michigan tally the number of students attending Michigan’s schools. Count day information is critical to all districts, because our student attendance translates into factors that decides state funding for our district. If your son or daughter is not able to attend school any day, please make sure to call them out by contacting our attendance office. We appreciate your continued efforts in getting our students ready to attend school each day.
