This Is How We Lakeview
December Edition - Volume 3
Enjoy your Winter Break!
it is hard to believe that we are halfway through the school year already. I hope that you take the next 2 weeks to relax and enjoy the time with your student.
During the winter break, the Lakeview Main Office will be open from 8:00 am-2:00 pm. We will be closed Thursday, Dec 24th, Friday, Dec 25th and Friday, Jan 1st.
Winter Break is Dec 21-Jan 4th. School starts back up on Tuesday, January 5th. We will still be in cohorts, so Cohort A will be in-person and Cohort B will have virtual work starting on this day.

Thank you for being excellent leaders and role models for others. We appreciate your hard work. Keep up the great work!
PAW Time update
Hello Panther Families. Our PAW Time curriculum is continuing to focus on our students' emotional regulation and sense of belonging. As a part of that effort, we are including conversations around inclusivity and diversity. We recently shared a resource from Teaching Tolerance that promotes our students' awareness of bias and strategies for how to stand up for fairness and inclusivity. We will continue to share strategies for helping students advocate for equity and the fair treatment of all community members.
As we return from winter break our students will be engaging in lessons around how to respond to events and things outside of our control, how to be a good digital citizen, implicit bias, and how we can all work together to influence the best outcome for ourselves and our community.
Congratulations to our Lakeview Values Winners!
iReady Second Diagnostic
As we continue to support your child’s learning process, we must continually assess what they have learned and areas for improvement. Beginning January 11th through January 29th, we will be administering the i-Ready Diagnostic test for Reading and the i-Ready or ALEKS Diagnostic for Math. The test is similar to the test your child took at the beginning of the year. It is not for grading purposes but rather identifies your child’s growth from the beginning of the year until now.
Why is I-Ready and ALEKS Important?
i-Ready and ALEKS Instruction provides students with lessons based on their individual skill level, so your child can learn at a pace that is just right for them. These lessons offer explicit, yet challenging instruction at each student’s level of ability by providing systematic practice and feedback.
In preparation for the second diagnostic test, please partner with us to create a successful learning experience for your child.
Talk to your child about iReady or ALEKS and have them log in and show you their progress. Have your child explain the lessons they have completed and what they have learned through the program.
Remind your child about the test dates and encourage them to try their best on the test.
Make a plan for testing days being sure to get a good night’s rest and that they eat breakfast.
Please see the attached letter for more information.

Social Justice Initiatives
When we come back in January, we will continue with Change Chats for our students. Additionally, our staff will be working with Dr. Arianna Howard of RadicalLearningSpaces as we uncover and reflect on our building culture and conditioning. Staff also will be introduced to the Social Justice Multi-Tiered System of Supports that the administrators, counselors, and counseling interns have been working on.

This week we asked our students about school culture! Our students seem to really enjoy the culture we've all created here at Lakeview. Their teachers, peers, and the ability to take control of their own learning, are all things that help create a positive environment for them. Thank you to our teachers for making such an impact on our students! And a huge thank you to our Lakeview families for sharing your students with us and helping our students find awesome friendships.
Updates from the Family Feedback Form
We did not receive any questions or comments last week. We hope all of our families have a restful break!
