Home of the Falcons
Good evening, ELMS families! I am so proud of our community for raising OVER $6000 for St. Jude's and ELMS Falcon Jack during last week's Penny War and online donation drive. In fact, the donations were so big on Friday, that we aren't even finished counting yet! We hope to final update and announce the PTO Pizza party winners on Tuesday.
Other Notes for the Week
Wednesday, February 1st - ELHS Curriculum Night - Drop In Event from 5pm to 7pm @ ELHS
Thursday, February 2nd - PTO Board Meeting @ 8:30am
Thursday, February 2nd - ELMS Basketball vs. NLMS @ ELMS
- In order to balance seating space for families and student spectators and address some student behavior issues, we are limiting the unchaperoned student section for next Thursday's game.
- Check your student email tonight for eligibility and information on how enter the seat lottery.
- Students attending and sitting WITH their parents do not need to complete the form. It only applies to students attending without parents and those wanting to sit in the student section.
Friday, February 3rd - After-School HangTime (3:00 - 4:30pm)
- Eligible students have had no more than 1 ALC or No OSS, ISS, or Bus Suspension since returning from the holiday break on January 9th.
- Thank you for limiting early pick-ups to emergencies. Parents needing to pick up a student early from this event MUST park and come to the cafeteria door to pick up. We will not send your student out to a parking lot without seeing you first.
- VERY IMPORTANT: Students can and will be suspended for uploading videos and pictures taken at school, especially if those pictures or videos create a school disruption or constitute bullying. See LCS Board policy 4300-R for more information, but this is unfortunately an issue that we need to address. Thank you for reviewing with your student the expectation of kindness to others and how inappropriate it is to video and take pictures of others without their permission.
Looking Ahead:
- Friday, February 17th - No School for Students
- Monday, February 20th - No School for Students
- Monday, February 27th - Progress Reports
Making Positive Behavior Choices
Thank you for reinforcing the value of making positive behavior choices here at school! Our school motto is SOAR, and we expect students to be safe, orderly, accountable, and respectful at all times.
This Spring we have SEVERAL student social events to celebrate students making positive choices! Each event will "reset" student eligibility, but our first event is Friday, February 3rd with an after-school Hangtime! Students must have no more than ONE ALC and NO ISS, OSS, or Bus Suspension between January 9th and February 3rd to be eligible!
Future student social events (criteria announced as semester progresses):
- February 3rd (3:00 - 4:30) -- HangTime
- March 17th (during day AND after-school) -- Mobile Ninja Warrior Gym & HangTime
- April 4th (during day) -- Student vs. Staff Volleyball Game
- April 6th (during day) -- Field Day
Athletics
Gate costs are $3 for students and $5 for adults for regular season games and $5 for extended season games.

Ongoing but Important Reminders:
- Riding Home With Friends on the Bus: Due to high ridership & bus capacity, students cannot ride a bus home with another student if that bus is not their regular transportation home.
- FREE Chat Tutoring: The LIncoln County Public Library offers FREE tutoring to all students via a chat feature! Great way to get homework help from a real person at night when students are stuck! All students have been shown how to access this resource through ClassLink.
- School-Based Doctor Visits: We also have access to Atrium Health virtual visits here at school as well! Application forms are in the front office. With parent permission, an Atrium health nurse comes to school and provides a primary care visit with both doctor and parent attending virtually. . The program works like a primary care visit covered under both private insurance and Medicaid. We are excited about this grant funded opportunity to save parents time at work and keep kids at school
