We need your help. Our car rider line is longer this year. Please help us begin our day on time. The 1st bell rings at 7:40am and the Tardy bell rings at 7:45am. The car line opens at 7am. We move the line as quickly as possible. You may need to leave a few minutes earlier to allow for traffic. Our teachers begin class promptly at 7:45 am. If your child needs to eat breakfast when they arrive late , they could be missing 30 minutes of instruction. Sadly, this year our tardy count is much high, an average of 25 per day. We will greatly appreciate your help with getting students to school on time and your children will reap the benefits by arriving on time.

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming! Mark your calendar for the week of December 13th-17th. This year’s school fair will be hosted in the school library during school hours. Students will be able to preview and shop during their regularly scheduled library and guidance classes. The fair will be open for a special family night event, A Winter Wonderland of Books and Caroling, on Monday, December 13th beginning at 6:20 PM until 8 PM.

Parents who want to avoid the hassle of sending cash with their child/children or want a secure method of shopping are encouraged to set up an e-wallet account now. Check this link https://www.scholastic.com/bf/sunsetparkelementaryschool2 on Sunset Park’s webpage for the instructions on how to create the e-wallet account.

Also, check out the book fair brochure which includes lots of picture books, graphic novels, and much more or browse the interactive book flyer at www.scholastic.com/fair.

Happy book shopping!

I cannot believe that it is almost the holiday season. It seems like the first semester has just flown by! First, I want to take time to thank you for all of your efforts in supporting your students throughout the first half of the school year! Parents, if you signed your child up for our "Operation Angel Tree" this year please note, I will reach out to every family individually in hopes of ensuring that all gifts have been distributed prior to the holidays. Additionally, if your child is in need of a coat, shoes and/or uniforms, please contact me on my office phone at (803) 981- 1272 for further assistance. Lastly, in light of the holidays, I just want to say how thankful I am for each and every one of your children. They truly remind me daily of why I absolutely love my role as a school counselor. As always, please know that I am available should you wish to speak with me regarding your child’s needs at Sunset Park. Happy Holidays!
